Turn Off Radio

This isn't a penny pincher as they could have easily put one entry in the Infotainment to shut down system costing nothing. Me, like Laurel, never knew this was a big deal until this post.
Also did not know you can adjust only gps girl when she's speaking. Confirmed today. That's pretty cool

Well, it's a could've,should've,would've moment then.

Don't have NAV, but can still use my phone with radio off in my 2014.

Or am I missing the issue?

Issue being discussed here has to do with the 2016 and up Mazda Connect Infotainment. Your 2014 has a different system. (2013-2015 is different than 2016-present)

In my Mazda turning turning off the music by pushing the volume knob down, still allows the nav voice and phone sound to work.

I have the connect system in my 2015 (2016) car.

Not an issue for me. Turn it down or mute, flip the system to a different app, radio is "off".

As mentioned - entertainment audio, navigation audio, phone call audio can all be independently controlled.

I myself have GPS audio muted, phone call set to a certain volume which may get adjusted slightly depending on where I am driving at the time of the call or who I'm talking to, then entertainment volume which I vary wildly depending on my mood at any given time.

True but an even better option would be an off switch with memory to remember where the song was up to [emoji3]

Oh sorry, forgot to mention. The VW also had a power switch and it did remember where you left off.

This. Push the volume knob down like a button. Does that not work in a '17?

I have a 2016 CX-5 Touring, and I frequently mute the audio and set the system to FM (so it won't keep playing music on my iPhone or through my USB drive. I still receive and send phone calls via BT with the system muted. Another thing I recently noticed - and really like - is that when I have my iPhone set on Google maps, the podcast / music playing through BT will pause when the GPS kicks in to announce a turn coming up (likely wouldn't do the same for music through the USB). Still, I wish there was an off button.

Push and hold Commander Knob. Couldn't be easier. You reading, Mazda?

I wonder if it has something to do with the backup camera? That comes on instantly every time. It would kind of suck to have to turn the system on to use the camera.

There's no hesitation. Start the car and immediately switch to R and the camera is instant.

I think that is how it is supposed to be otherwise people will be complaining takes too long to display

Right. Im wondering if that's why you can't shutdown the radio completely because the camera needs to be able to come on right away?

Somehow I don't think it's related. Could be as simple as either:

  1. Mazda doesn't believe an off function is needed
  2. They can't figure out how to add off to MZD connect
