Got the BOV in May and its awesome. However, I'm wondering how often the BOV should get oiled and whats the best way of doing it? Oh yeah, another question......whats the best way to adjust it so the car runs efficiently as well. Thanks.

Mike

Mike,

I would pull it apart every other oil change. More often than that really isn't necessary. That may in fact be too often, but it won't hurt anything and will be frequent enough that you remember you have to do it.

As for adjustment...
I'm not sure how the TS BOV is adjusted. I have a Forge. I do know that when adjusting my Forge I added/removed shims and swapped springs until I found the point that when I shifted under boost the engine did not shudder or quack. The quacking sound I'm talking about sounds kind of like when a dog is hacking something up. It's a very noticable sound. Hope this helps.

restart your ecu, turn the cap to 1/4th inch away from the base, tighten the top nub on the cap where your boost line attaches, drive softly, out of any high boost or wot for 100 miles. then have fun in that setting for a while. if you notice backfire, tighten the spring 1/4 turn, drive around, still backfires do the same thing etc until you JUST get rid of backfire/popping at low rpm, when you're there drive around more and more, and then tighten it one more 1/4th inch and your spring will have settled and you will have the best performance for safety ratio on the distance. after that, measure the mm of distance away from the cap, and whenever you clean it, you can just turn it back to that setting even a couple more mm to let the spring resettle. i readjust my TS every new mod i get.

so what to re-oil with,...?

is it neccesary to buy the 15 dollar bottle from SU?

oh, my bad 16 dollars.

I've used a synthetic grease on my Forge every 6 months. I do a full tear down and re-grease all the components lightly. Seems to work just fine.

I'm sure there are multiple solutions out there, but regular intervals of cleaning & lubing are all that's important.

I guess I should have said "Don't tear the stock bypass valve apart."

There are tighter tolerances on the forge angle valve than there are with the stock plastic angle valve. The stocker should not need to be lubricated because of those high tolerances and because of the material used.

The best way to oil the BOV is to obviously pull it off of the intercooler and basically give it lube job? Sounds kinda hot to me! lol
