why would u recomend that? does the mp3 ecu not hold the boost well or what isnt that what the safc is for?

SAFCs don't work with our cars.. the ECU will just learn around it. At bare minimum you need an MSP ECU, preferably some sort of tunable ECU since you won't be running the same turbo, manifold, or anything from the MSP kit.

That's not a bad price at all though, especially with two FMICs.

The MP3 ECU is bad for turbo because it advances the timing which increases compression. Add a turbo on top of that and kaboom. :P

You'd be better off with a Protege5 ECU with a voltage clamp and FMU. Protege5 ECUs can be had for cheap usually.. especially from a junkyard.

MP3 has advanced timing that will cause detonation and BOOM at a lower psi than the msp ecu will. Pretty sure the S-AFC has not been successful with Protege's, something about the stock ECU will eventually learn around it.

just list waht i need for to be safe this is gonan be my daily drive for a while till i get enough money to by a cheep car later on.

Do you want to do it the right ($$$) way first or just get up and running safely at low boost for now and upgrade to better engine management later?

I'd recommend the FMU and voltage clamp setup if you just want to get started and run like 5psi, but a full standalone like a Microtech if you wanted to do it the right way from the start.

well i have 3700 to spend but i want to spend 2grand right now i want it safe and cheep for 2g lol what would u guys recomend i havent bought that kit yet.

When you find out let me know :D

for 2g it looks like the only way to go is MSP ECU (which I have myself.. and would recommend if you were going for a basically MSP turbo kit, but you're stuff is all different) or the FMU and voltage clamp setup. For low boost, the FMU and voltage clamp will work.

I'd tell the guy to keep the SAFC and maybe lower the price a bit. That would give you money for gauges and such that you'll need.

The SAFC does not work with our throttle body position sensor(TPS). Go with Mircrotech or haltek for your set-up. Or a P5 ECU with an MPI tuner. I don't really care for FMU's and voltage clamps. They do their job but not in a proper sufficient way. You tend to run pig rich and you don't get the best A/F ratios. And 8psi is also on the verge of maxing the fmu. You will be happy with a stand alone or a really good piggyback.

Also you will have to do some cutting to fit that intercooler. The max we can go with no moditication is around 24*6*3 and that is a tight fit.

I also see that you don't have any sort of wideband listed which is a must.

Check out and read the forced induction forum. I think you still need to do a lot of research on this car so you can fully understand what needs to be done.

im use to neons were u could slap it on and drive lol technolgly has gotten more adv from 95 to 2006 lol can i do this for 2g or not?

Yeah our ECUs aren't the most user-friendly :P you can do it for 2g if you buy used parts and go with an FMU and voltage clamp.

I wouldn't run more than 5psi though..
