Mazda 323f BG Astina 1992 1.6l SOHC
Hi all

I was wondering whether any one of you ever tried to turbo their mazda.. I own a 323F bg (pop-up lights model) and it is fitted with a 1.6l sohc injection engine.

I was planning to put a T3 turbo on it. The plan is to use the following parts:

T3 TURBOCHARGER (GARRETT) - 400EUR
WATER INJECTION KIT (AEM) - 500EUR
INDUCTION KIT / PIPING (WITH THE HELP OF A FRIEND) - AROUND 150EUR
INTERCOOLER - 250EUR
DECOMPRESSION PLATE - 200EUR.
LARGER (THAN STOCK) CUSTOM DECAT EXHAUST SYSTEM

STOCK INTERNALS, CLUTCH, BRAKES & INJECTORS

First question: Is an aftermarket ECU like DTA / Lumenition / Megasquirt a must in this case? I know the power gains would be way bigger, but I just want to know whether I can work my way around without one.

Second question: With the setup above, I am planning to run 10-11psi. How much power do you think I will be able to get in BHP(with ECU and without)?

Third question: Would the stock clutch be able to handle the new power? And will stock brakes have enough stopping power?

I know you think I should worry about the engine internals rather than the clutch or the brakes, but the water injection really helps in protecting those.

Would be glad if I get some answers / feedback :) Thanks

Stock injectors isnt gonna handle 10-11 psi from a T3. Maybe half that boost with a good adjustable fuel pressure regulator. But at 10-11 psi, your gonna be running lean as hell.
