I hear yah!
I agree. Text does not work too well sometimes. But I understand Cullen, there somepeople here that thinks this SMIC will be dirt cheap. I agree with Cullen as far as the work involve in making a SMIC so I don't expect it to be cheaper than $500.

This post was just ignorant.

$275? will those be rusted steel or ghetto 'r' us pipes?

I am on vaction right now and these past few posted have given me a headache. I am gonna go cool off before you guys get me really heated. Later...
i can understand your comment about mine. i know everyone else knew what i was trying to say. its not ********** thats inflating prices it would be turbohoses. i know that u have gave good info and prices to the community. i dont think there will be 100 people but maybe 20. that would be enough.

but the comment to 03msp-brian was just not cool. if you read it its alumized steel like turbohoses and powdercoated. plus its mandrel bent. (hippy)

for goodness sakes people... Look, aluminum is the cheapest metal to buy. But there's a catch. Aluminum is only cheapest when you buy MASS quantities. So what does this all means? It means if Turbohoese were to do this themself, cost wise it'll be pretty darn cheap. Of course it would only be cheap if bought a pallet of 25 sheets and 4ftx12ft. Now that isn't cost effective since what are they goin to do with all that spare metal?

Buying premade cores will most likely cost as much as buying 20sheets of the same dimension. That won't work.

So what does it all come down too? They do the custom route. Which means that they buy and use sheets when needed. So every SMIC Turbohoses builds, are CUSTOM MADE. MEANS THERE HAND DONE. Tig welded professional. Cost big bucks. Try taking a bov flange to any welder, and tell them to weld it to your pipe. They'll say $60, no dice. thats cdn. Think of what it'll just cost for you to have a custom made SMIC. Ain't pretty.

On a side note, since hes doin this custom, Turbohoses probably doesn't have all the nessary heavy duty equipment to build these things at mass. I can prolly bet you they just have a mandrel bender, cold saw's, welding equipment, drill press... That'll answer you question to why it costs more.

Now the only thing I have to gripe about Turbohoses, is the pipes. Not because of the quality of the pipes, it's more about what they sell it for. T-6 Aluminum should be roughly around $100 at dimensions of 2.5" x 20ft. Now they sell the pipes at 395. The only conclusion I have for these guys, is that Turbohoses is making money not for themselfs, but more for that they paying for the mandrel bender. So all you bastards shut your trap. Equipment like mandrel benders, sheet cutters don't cost $100 bucks at walmart. THEY COST AN ARM & LEG. (If your wondering, a heavy duty sheet cutter alone would cost around $50,000CDN)

dude you really didnt need to go there..you know nothing about my pipes. as i know about the same about yours. i never marketed them as the best, as but only good pipes at a good price. my pipes are aluminized steel, not the best best for heat reduction but i will say everyone that has these say that the car feels like it has more power. they are jig'd, tig'd and pressure tested. i think saying that they are "ghetto r us pipes" is alittle off. what 03msp-brian said was alittle uncalled for, but if he believes it what he sells that much, i'm not stopping him. but they are my pipes and i dont like it when poeple talk that way about my parts, as i dont like to talk that way about other peoples parts. i hope you agree with what i am saying as we both dont need this agrivation...
p.s.---i really sucked in english class...:)

Everyone needs to just take a step back and think before they post, including the vendors. I imagine Cullen is seeing the costs and hardships at trying to make this SMIC, and then got a little pissed when everyone's saying rediculous prices of like 200-300 dollars. That is no reason to bash another vendor, but I'm sure he's having a bad day and all of my dealings with him have been very good. People should ask 03MSP (in another thread of course) the details of his piping. Hardpipes only come with coupler fittings, the clamps, and the pipes. Some questions to ask are what type of aluminum is he using, are the clamps SS, are the coupler fittings silicon, does this set come with free shipping (remember the 395 for turbohoses pipes are free shipping), will this set follow the same route as the stock pipes and fit with the Injen or other aftermarket intakes? Take all the facts and the price and make an informed decision on what pipes are the best for you. There is no reason to flame Cullen about the price of his pipes, because it was no where near unreasonable and he had the pipes to us faster than you could imagine. There was also no reason for Cullen to flame Brian, but both are good vendors who seem to be doing a lot for the MSP community.

I have nothing to add ... but lets stop flaming Cullen ... he has done a lot for this board and its members ... the dude has spent hours on the phone with me going over stupid newb questions with no hesitation. I personally will buy everything i can afford from him and his store. He is the first vendor that i have met in a long time that is much more interested in the customers satisfaction than his own bottom line. There were a bunch of us at first that were "hoping" that the SMIC would be around 300.00 ... and that is just because we are all trying to make the most out of this car for the least amount of money. I have read through a bunch of things about this SMIC and i realize that i will be paying much more for R&D and the final piece of mind than i will be the part ... i am 100% fine with that as i think everyone should be. I dont want to put something on my car that will rust out and ruin my turbo or my engine ...i dont have that type of money to blow. Cullen is and will continue to be the best vendor on these boards and i thank him for doing his job. And everyone has a bad day now and then ... let the flame war die.

Good morning everyone!

It is Saturday and my family just got back from Europe from being gone for a month. I have been back for the last two weeks catching up on posts and trying to answer people's questions. When I originally read this thread I saw as there was a possibility of another SMIC. I didn't see any specific "vendor ready or gauging interest" content within the thread. I posted a message saying we might have something as well. By no means did I mean to infringe on another's post - but the content was that not like any other. Furthermore, true colors show within the posts and the reputability does as well.

I do not know "**********" personally, but honestly, I think he should take it easy and chill out. By no means do I want a war, but I as a customer wouldn't want to be treated as I have seen the last 15 posts from this individual. Hey, maybe, he's having a rough week or interpreting people's posts the wrong way - but you have to look at the whole fabrication and customization thing as "business". I have proven products and many many posts for input and generations of products. I think this post can be counted as one as well, but I feel a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know - I'm being honest, and by no means was I trying to "threadjack" this thread. I apologize if I have upset anyone, but I am acting as a "human" being in this post, not trying to push product - and I have never tried to do this, I have always gotten input to create products before doing so. With this all being said, have a great day!

Cullen ... i think you should just close the thread and open a new one fresh ...

I'd say delete everything from July 1 on.....(bicker)

Why don't we all relax and wait for the R&D resluts.

I apologize to anyone that was confused or upset. I will repost a new thread being this one went haywire. I am on vacation so I will not start the new thread until I have more time to put all this information together properly. Back to the beach and beautiful women.
Slam it down. (drinks)TTYL guys...

Wow. This has gotten ridiculous.
We all have bad days, and I forgive Cullen. He is an AWESOME guy.

Think about this guys, you get what you pay for. Turbohoses pipes are seriously very high quality. Why do you buy an Injen instead of "ebay intake?"

Everyone who got a "condescending" comment from Cullen needs to stop whining, they were rude first. We are all adults right?

Why did everyone get their expectations so high? There is no way to make the SMIC endtakes without it being custom. For that reason the FMIC is faster to make. FMIC come with universal endtanks, whereas the SMIC must have custom endtanks welded on to make it fit the pipes. There is no other way.

If I can save the money, I'll be more than happy to buy this, it will probably be almost as good as the front mount. Let's all calm down and wait for the testing.

^^^^^^ I agree with ALMOST everything you said, except that this SMIC will not be anywhere close in performance to a FMIC, specially at above stock boost levels.
I don't even think Turbohoses are the ones making the SMIC. I also e-mail them and they said it will be around $600 for those that wanted to know about price.

Since then I changed my mind about the SMIC and decided to get a FMIC.

BTW, my hardpipes are for sale.

Maybe there are making now, but I know at one point there were asking people to bid to make it for them. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT THIS
