Turbo?

Anyone in the group turbo'd their Protege?

If so please provide some feed back on cost, and if it was worth the effort.

I am a daily driver and the only complaint I have about my Protege is that it deserves more power. :)

Thank you in advance,

Grey

I wish I could say yes.

I may have the other half of my MAM sleeper by the end of July..
If everything goes ok, I'll be boosted by the middle of August.

What made you decide on the Sleeper kit? They offer the budget, the sleeper, the stripper, and the thumper. Ive been looking at them and emailed MAM for a discription of the distinct differences without a response.

Do you auto cross in your protege, or are you wanting a fun car to drive?

I went with the sleeper because Kevin (BlackSRT47) sold his MP3, and no one had money to put down on it. And the fact that he was nice enough to extend the payments over a year for me made me get it. I've been buying it piece by piece.
The stripper is the sleeper w/o a FMIC iirc.
The thumper has a bigger turbo than the sleeper.

Other people can answer your questions about MAM in the MAM subsection of the forum, it'll be faster than e-mailing them.

I do autox my protege but I'm not 100% certain that the turbo kit will help me go any faster on the track.. but thats fine by me. It'll kick ass on the straights and the corners. That's all I'll be shooting for.

I have posted this question in the MAM section to see what they have to say. Someone told me if you turbo an engine that it will wear it out faster.

Is that true?

Depends.
On how you treat the turbo and the motor as a whole.

[SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1][SIZE=-1]Q: Will a turbo wear out my engine faster?
A: At boost levels of 10-12 psi, the impact on engine longevity is minimal. We have over 400 turbo customers running this boost level with no measurable impact on engine life. As you approach 15 psi, oil consumption will probably go up some. Running 15psi will reduce the engine life to a few years.
