Turbo Timer + Stock Alarm = I can lock while car is on...

I don't know what the **** I did, but my alarm stopped working one day, so I shrugged it off. Then one day it worked again, which blew me away. Then the very next day it wasn't working. So, I'm checking it out, and I guess one of the contacts for the connector came loose. I'm not sure which one, because I didn't really feel like isolating the wire, I just sorta figured out which position the damn thing worked in, and zip tied it there. So its been working fine for a month now, and I can lock even while the car is running (Not sure if this arms the alarm, I'm assuming yes though).

Its either because:
1. My shock sensor is disconnected
2. I was playing with the dip switches trying to get it to work.

If anyone cares, I can go try and see what the dip switches are set at and if you'd like to try and see it if works on your system too.

I'd reccommend checking taking out the key (while the engine's still running I'm assuming), get out of the car, and lock it, then look to see if the little red light comes on...if it does, then that means your alarm is armed which would be a very interesting thing since I have read posts saying that was A) A) impossible, or B) would require major rewiring.

I should probably reconnect my LED then, shouldn't I? :p

If it would ever stop raining here and start acting like summer, I'll do it.

Okay...im stumped.
I can lock the doors while the car is on, but the LED does not blink.
If I wait till the car is off and lock, it arms. Hmm...

Stock (im assuming, from reading some threads here..), the DIP switches are
Code:
  1 2 3 4
OFF OFF ON ON

and mine are the exact same...so...hmmm...

anyways, i flipped 2 ON ,which is supposed to arm after 30 seconds. If the timer goes for a minute though...i wonder what will happen...

but still, i wonder why i can lock my doors now while the car is on....

Yeah, okay it arms after 30 seconds, but its PASSIVE AS HELL. You can unlock and open the door and it will not set it off. It will not let you start the car though. Whipty Doo.

What I really want to know is why my doors can be locked and unlocked while the car is on. Is it really a loose wire or is the brain box just acting up stupid.

I have a greddy tt and just clipped the blue and white wire under the rear deck, it allowed me to turn off the car, get out, and remote lock the doors, however the alarm doesn't arm. So if you didn't clip the wire, then it must have been something else you did, but otherwise, lots of people with tt's can remote lock their doors but no alarms...like that ATB song..."you're not alone"

this has been discussed in several threads already.. Im assuming you cut the blue/white wire? that allows you to use your keyless entry while your car is still running, but it doesnt arm the alarm.. if you press the button twice, it will still honk, as if arming the alarm, but will not.. the led will blink until the car shuts off, then the led stops..

if you want your alarm to work while your TT/engine is on, you have to set up some sort of a relay.. to fool your car into thinking its off..

or, you can just wait around till your car shuts off, and then arm the alarm..

like I said, there are several other threads about this.. just check them out. I was reading up on it yesterday

Alright guys. This is very possible and has been discussed in several threads, but I will go over it one more time. The remote entry and the alarm system have separate modules, but the alarm is armed by the keyless entry. Both have separate wires going to the control modules that "tell" it whether the car is running by supplying voltage. If you cut the orange wire to pin 6 of your alarm module, and cut the blue/white wire to the remote entry module you will be able to arm the alarm and lock the doors whether the car is running or not. This has been tested by myself and many members extensively. It works. Wiring up a relay is a waste of time, especially for those who are not familiar with soldering.

The only thing is i have NOT cut any wires, and i have NOT screwed with the keyless entry module.

Bingo, Jurgs you have it.
Cut blue/white wire in back. Orange wire up front. I did this with my greddy TT and I could arm the alarm, lock/unlock doors whenever I want. I will do it again after my TT is installed on the new car.

Dexter. If you haven't cut any wires, those dip switches must be doing it. Either that or your turbo timer was wired up wrong. I would doublecheck everything and compare it to stock or compare it to someone with the same TT as you. See whats different.

Hey Jurgs, how's the black mica treating you?

My turbo timer is correctly installed (Was and still is wired the same, works fine). The DIP switches seem to be be same as stock.

I love the black mica color. So much that after I totaled my first black mica I bought a second one for about $1500 more than I would have paid for a 03.5. more my style i guess

where do i find that blue/white wire at? i know where the alarm module is but one guy said under the rear deck so that makes me think in the trunk but why would anyone but the remote lock module in the trunk? sorry if i sould stupid but i havent played with the wiring of the car yet so im not familar with it yet. also too, what color are the 12v constant, ACC, and ON wires for the ignition so i can wire up my greddy tt? and the speed sensor and parking brake? sorry again, and thanks!

I'm going by memory here... The blue/white wire is up under the read deck (fold down the back seats, and theres some visible screws) there will be a cluster of wires towards the center.
There's a how-to somewhere for the TT I'll look for it, but for the parking brake, just pull the covering around the lever up. It'll pop off. If you have small hands you can just splice into the one and only wire near the parking brake. If not I think you have to take out the center console.

do you happen to know which orange wire on which of the 3 plugs for the alarm module i cut so i can arm the alarm? i searched and found something on a 03 but the alarm module is different for a 03.5 so i wasnt sure. does it happen to be this one?

I didn't know that the 03 and 03.5 had different alarm modules. I'll search around, hopefully someone can shine some light on this.

It goes to pin 6 on the largest plug. There should be a wiring diagram diagram on your Alarm control unit. It should be 12V switched.
