Turbo smoke

I have noticed for one, the engine runs really hot. Even a 10 minute trip back and forth to campus I can feel how hot the engine is and hear the tinging and pinging of metals reacting to the heat expansion.

Also, I smell what smells like burnt oil and have at one time seen smoke coming from the bottom side of the turbo where the flange meets up with the exhaust out. Is this connection supposed to have a gasket or is it a metal to metal point of contact?

Well you have 1200 degree exhaust temps going through the turbo which builds up to be pretty hot. It's normal for a turbo car to have higher engine bay temps, especially with a side mount inter cooler

Yes there is a gasket there, replace it. Even if it's not the problem it won't hurt it any. But if you're smelling oil you clearly have a leak

Thanks for the reply!

Spoke to another one of my car enthusiasts friends and he said oil could possible be spraying back into the turbo from faulty wastegate, or PCV can't remember which he said.

Anyways, going to replace the gasket, just bought the millenia PCV and go to check the wastegate is functioning correctly.
