Im planing a low boost turbo on my 01 mp3 here shortly, i have a megasquirt standalone but dont want to go that route yet... eventually but not anytime soon. what do you guys recomend for me? i figure a ecu swap because of the added timing on my mp3 ecu i also plan a piggyback to add a lil fuel to the top end just in case i will be running a wideband also. i have searched and searched but not found anything... hoping maybe something plug and play but i can deal with some wiring.

the standalone would do the trick, i dont see what would be the problem using it.

but if you wanna make some money, sell your ecu and get a p5 ecu. mp3 ecus go for alot and it would be useless to you

just dont wanna take the time for the full standalone and tune, im on a strict time schedule with my work... i do my own work on a lay off i will do the standalone... so the p5 ecu will be a direct swap? 5 sp of course

well if you really dont want the standalone, your gonna need to swap out the ecu. you can either use a msp ecu or p5. since you have a 5 speed, you can do this.

the msp ecu is set up for a turbo, so that would require the less work for a small turbo set up. yea both a direct swap. if you want to fine tune your set up, get a afc or some sort of piggy back (split second) and make adjustments to places needed in the fuel map.

timing is not an issue since the msp ecu is set up for that. i would only worry about it if you want to run more boost. but im assuming your gonna get a basic set up right?

yeah just basic for now, atleast until my neon comes apart.... i have a 300 horse neon... threw a rod needless to say im done on the neon seen anyway so its all getting takin apart but until then... im not gonna be home for 6-8 months im gonna just do a basic turbo setup then sell that when i pull my mega squirt fmic and turbo setup off the neon. im liking the msp setup... now just to find one... i also have a splitsecond arc1-003 which odly enough they stoped production on thats what i plan on using to fine tune with i might sell for a apexi super afc

unfortuantly the splitsecond 003 is not gonna cut it. the fuel trims on the proteges over ride modified changes and the open/closed loop transitions on the proteges do not happen soon enough, so your gonna need a 02 sensor adjustable clamp as well.

protege garage sells a exclusive split second afc for the proteges. they have a o2 sensor clamp, 2.5 bar map sensor for more accurate adjustments and afc built into one. its the cheapest and most proven solution piggyback so far for the proteges. they go for around 300 to 400 new. ive also heard the new aem piggyback include these features as well.

if you wanna use the apexi safc or the other splitsecond unit, then all you have to do is just buy a o2 sensor clamp to work with it, so you can have control over the o2 sensor. the esc1 from split second is the perfect thing for this.

Appreciate the great info! just getting into the mazda scene so its a little new to me, the boosting is common grounds as well as motor building but the mazda ecu is a lil different... i think when i finally go ms im gonna run parallel seems a little more tedious then the neons to run full standalone im gonna check into that new split second afc sounds like that and a p5 ecu should be simple to get boosted in a couple days time
