Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and only found it by luck actually! WOW! Love it so far! I'd like to ask you "gurus" for some advice. If I am looking for a turbo kit, would this one be good?

http://www.turbo-kits.com/protege_turbo_kits.html

I've sen some others too for around the same price range. Could you maybe also give some advice and web links please.

I have done some searching already, but haven't found all the answers, or maybe I'm blind!

Thanks anyway!

PS: Can anyone help me find a way to do mod's in Taiwan? I'm based here and it's making me jealous seeing all you guys have all the fun!

If you want Turbo, I would go with Hi-Boost, I am still trying to get money for this kit.

and i would not mind getting some stuff from Taiwan, tried to get a hold of people there who did a Supercharger kit for the car.

Heck if those Thunder Headers are from there.

SO, Hi-Boost.

You are lucky. The 1.6 seems to hold up to boost a lot better :(

I should just give up on my FS-DE and find a low mileage ZM and swap it in.

I E-mailed them A LONG time ago, but never heard anything back, might be due to the fact i sent it in english....

B-rock, your the man! I live on this little island and haven't been able to find anything, but your in Canada and you find this..!! thnx for the info!

Ps:

By the way, I've been following the thread on the thunder header from taiwan, I think that's gonna be the first thing I have done on my Isamu (protege). next, maybe get a cold-air intake...injen?? Along with that then Eibach springs for the looks and some 17" wheels.

Sound reasonable? or are there any suggestions? I'm very new to this..modifying cars thing!

thnx

PS: the supercharger looks great but comes at a pretty hefty price - NT$ 190000 = approx. US 5780

If you truely do plan on going turbo, the header and intake are waste of time and money, as you will be tossing them when you get the turbo

That's true, but with the prices of turbos being pretty high, this suits me more. I'm also jus (thumb) t beginning and it sounds great to go through all the ways to "get more power". I'd feel rather limp if I just came along, fit in a turbo and that's it!

go use the hiboost kit, i am gonna be using the wagner kit, but he is out of buisness, so hiboost is the way to go...

Been doing some research into that kit, but their website is under construction. any idea on pricing range?

thnx (boom07)

Hiboost is NOT out of business, he was referring to Wagner's turbo kit....

Hiboost kit is around $3800 I believe

would i be able to have a turbo kit put into my car if it's an automatic? these kits seem like all you need, but i read on some other threads that its best to get suitable clutches etc etc..

I have no idea how the 1.6 compares to the 2.0 in this regard but I know with the 2.0 you can't really push more than 6psi with the automatic. I think you can't push more than that on the manual without upgrading the clutch quickly either.
