MORE PICS IN POST #8. THE PICTURE ORDER IS WAYYY OFF

GO FROM NA GOODNESS ---> TURBO INSTALL (burnout)

Well I finally have my MSP setup in and running well after overcoming a major vacuum leak.

The mods are:

- MSP ECU
- CS S/J Pipe
- DIY FMIC (2 inch hot and 2.75 inch cold)
- Greddy Type RS
- CS Exhaust
- ATP Internal Wastegate
- MSP TURBO AND MANI

I am extremely happy with the added power. The only thing that is bothering me is that the boost holds 8.5-9psi perfectly. I was hoping for a little less boost for a little more peace of mind. Otherwise everything is great! I'll try to get some pics up in a seperate thread later on.

Currently I am catless and am shooting flames out of the exhaust on shift and off throttle. I will be welding up a high flow cat, attempting to help the environment out a little and REALLY hoping it will lower the boost a small bit.

eh, a bigger intercooler will make it have a higher boost level, and spike more if your wastegate vac source is referenced at the intake manifold. If you want to get rid of your spike reference the vac source from the hot pipe, you will have a more linear boost buildup and lose the spike. And you should be able to set the boost at whatever level you want just by adjusting the wastegate manually.

BTW Your car is fine at 9psi anyways, id leave it. You are nowhere near 250WHP you have nothing to worry about.

Yeah, last I checked the ATP wastegate actuator did raise boost to that level. You're running pretty much the same setup I am in my Protege5, no major differences :)

Yeah there is no spiking at all! Just about a steady 8.5 - 9 PSI. the car runs great..

There was no wiring to be done. Just pull the old ECU and plug the new one in! I'll try to get some pics tonight!

Congrats, sounds like your enjoying the set up. I wouldn't worry too much it it's steady at 9 with no spike you should be good. In the cold you may fuel cut but just keep your foot off of it then. The cat will lower boost a small bit. I'd recheck all the vac lines just to be sure you don't have a leak, from your discription of flames you may have a leak after the MAF and are getting too much fuel but I could be wrong. What does the car hold on the gauge at idle around 20 you should be good.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone!!!

I previously had a stock mazdaspeed kit installed on my car, drove it a few times, but wasn't happy with the power. I got a ride from my friend in his speed and was suprised how a small amount of mods can really wake the car up!! So I decided to re-purchase a mani and turbo and do the upgrades at the same time.

As for the flame, it doesn't happen all the time, I'm sure its just from being overly rich.

The vacuum holds a steady 23 hg at idle. When I had the vacuum leak from my ebay catch can setup, the hg was around 20 - 21 and sometimes dipped down to 18hg. Now, everything that has threads has threadlocker on it, everything is clamped snug and the idle is steady!

AND I wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the input, answers, insight, knowledge and expertise that was shared during my numerous posts and questions!

Oh ya and the only thing I have to do is fine tune the BOV because I'm getting the Turk Woosh at low rpm lol..

There is only one problem though, I ghetto rigged an oil return line using internally braided high temp heater (coolant) hose. I also wrapped it in thermotec 2000 deg heat tape. I hope it holds up for now as I am redesigning my oil return system.

23hg is perfect, for some odd reason no one seems to believe me when I tell them that I hold 23 hg. See mike other people have 22-23 also... As for the oil return line I used a 1/2 incch rubber hose with clamps real simple nothing special, as long as it's free flowing and has no kinks or restricitons your good.

What's with the STI stickers on the coil packs?

Anyway, love the style. SS or aluminum IC piping?
