I could come over for moral support haha. I don't have personal experience installing a turbo kit but I sure to read a lot of threads on this forum! haha

Seriously though I'm pretty bored.

It was just the usual bad day at work, so I was aggrevated to start off. I get home around 8, no one's there, so I try to do this s*** myself. I tried to mount the fmic, but trying to hold it up and mark of holes in the center is damn near impossible by yourself. I finally got the holes marked on the bumper where I needed to drill, then the drill wouldn't drill a damn hole. It just kept spinning all over the place, maybe I was using the wrong kind of bit. At this point I gave up on doing the IC myself and moved on to removing the oil pan. I was squished under the car, trying to pry the ******* thing off and was just getting more aggrevated so I quit that. Then I tried to attach the exhaust mani to the turbo. One of the nuts is damn near impossible to get on. The wastegate actuator and one of the water lines both block the stud and getting my hands to squeeze the nut in there wasn't happening. I tried again this morning with no luck. I think it's all just gonna sit for awhile. I can't deal with this bs after all the bs at work.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I know all about BS at work. I would proabably be very aggravated too. Wish I could help. Just take a deep breath and relax. Easy to say I guess, I'm not in your shoes. Good luck.

sorry to hear that man, I know how frustrating it can be trust me I took out my complete motor by myself and have done everything to my car by myself and there is alot of things thats much easier when someone helps for sure

for the oilpan use a prybar to get it off, I had problems getting mine off also

Thanks for the kind words guys, it's much appreciated. I'm calling out of work tomorrow, no doubt about it. If anyone wants to come down, you're more than welcome.

I'll go over there, but I should probably be afraid since Rhode Island drivers are the least knowledgeable in the nation haha.

What time will you be working on it tomorrow? I'm on my 1-week summer break so I can come by any time for at least moral support. I've done quite a lot of work on my own car but I've never dealt with turbo stuff :P

Nothing different really. I know where everything needs to go, it's just nice to have help wrenching and holding s***. I'm gonna start working as soon as I wake up, prob around 9 or 10. I think I'm gonna have one of my resident turbo expert buddies with me, so hopefully things will go smoother.

PM me your address and I should be able to be there by noon-ish. Hell even without the address it shouldn't be too bad, it is Rhode Island after all.

You must utilize your car jack. I have flown solo on all my projects including the fmic mounting. sliding a piece of wood between it and the ic and lifting it up that way will allow you to free both your hands for marking and all that. Just give it enough pressure to push up against the bumper and hold it solid.

I can't tell you how many uses other than lifting my car I have found for that thing.

You gotta thing 5th dimensional marty

Yea, I had that tip. Problem is, I have the front end of my car up on an suv jack. I can't get my smaller jack close enough next to it so it'll hold the front mount up. I should have backup soon, so that shouldn't be a problem going forward.

i had the same intercooler problem, u wanna know my solution, duck tape... used that to hold it in place , drill holes and mount...... :P i did a magyver.. hehe... but yeah, i know where u are comming from i did my install solo too.....

wow I never thought to use the factory jack for anything. I always thought it was a useless piece of crap (especially since the nut that holds the bolt that holds my spare tire in place broke its welds so now my spare tire is stuck forever).

Since I always use jackstands (think safety people), my jack is always free to use for whatever is needed. Such was case many times in suspension installs.

No worries mate. I don't think I've done anything major to a car that has not had me raging with frustration.

Yea, I've got her up on jackstands, but I also left the big jack up front for added support. I don't wanna start a new zoom zoom boom club with cars falling on their owners, BOOM!

Why not? its a good way to bond with your car.....

It'll have a lasting impression you'll never forget! heh

The following post is for the enjoyment of everyone but me. :) Since there's a monsoon outside, when I got home I decided to get the ehaust manifold to the turbo. Well long story short, I got everything on ok, went well, tightened it all, then realized there was no way in hell the lines would reach their destination. Yep, I put it on backwards, lol. It's all set now, but I figured I'd brighten everyone's day a little. (first) I tried to finish scraping the old gasket off the intake mani but it's just not enjoyable so I quit, haha. Mark, I may give you a run for your money with your 5 month mark!
