there used to be a guy here in houston called equinox that ran a t3/t4 wagner turbo. was 200+hp at the dyno a few months back before he sold his p5. ill show you picks if i remember friday. i have the video of his dyno too and one of hims racing citizenpro so you can see it in action.

dont worry thats not the real antoine. hiboost is a great kit. you can talk to pirana about it. he had one on his old p5. he lives in dallas, drives a mazdaspeed and a nsx now.

I really want to go with hiboost but $3800 is up there. I mean...if i can find a way to get good quality cheaper then thumbs up if not well it's gonna take me a little longer than i expected to boost the mp3.

Does anyone have any opinons of what to do (what kit) i've offically become confused.

you can put your own kit together or buy a whole kit.
wagner
mental addiction motorsports has several
hiboost
Mazdaspeed
BEGI
MPI
Spool
essential speed

just find a msp exhaust manifold and S-pipe the turbo that comes on a msp GT25R/T25R

send them to MPNick and for around $580 he will port and polish them all and put the GT28R compressor wheel in it. Then buy an intercooler off of ebay or some place make sure it is 30" or shorter on width, no more that 3 1/2" depth and no more than 6" tall and then buy pre-mandrel bnt pipes and weld your own.

buy the MPI and tune your car along with a J&S Ultra Safe Guard knock defender and your set...

Swapping ECU's is a bad idea IMO. On the MP3, you will ALWAYS have a CEL because we do not have VTCS and the P5's do, so the ECU is looking for it and can't see it. Also, if you get an MPI, you can control fuel and timing and not have to worry about it. I'm thinking that may be the reason I made so much power at only 8psi....the MP3 ECU. I could be wrong though, but stick with what you have, get something to control timing and you're set.

Not knocking the kit, but the ECU shouldn't matter if you supplied an EMS that controlled timing and not just fuel. I wouldn't run 11psi on a P5 with no timing control anyway, that's just bad news waiting IMO!
`
Let me tell you that there are many people running our kit at 11 psi on 93 for over 1 year already with no problems. We use the Haltech F10X to keep the price down on the kit, but at least we provide a very good and reliable fuel management system. We also offer the upgrade to a Haltech E6x that can handle both fuel and timing.

7 psi on a MP3 makes very good power on 93 octane fuel.

the only thing holding me back from getting your kit (i've been shopping, sporadically) is your log style manifold... I want your turbo kit, but with MAM's bull horn Turbo Manifold... hell.. I'll probably build my own with a littlee from both...

Our manifold is not a log style. It actually has individual runners that meet at the turbo flange or we now have the big boost kit manifold that is a better flow unit for 20+ psi of boost.

On that manifold, our car has run 12.5 at the 1/4 mile, so I do not think it is a bad design at all.

my bad, I was looking at pirana's install pics, I glanced at the engine bay pic, i thought the intake was the manifold... sorry.

i still think teh bull horn header is sick sick sick though. imho

make sure your car is running right lol big tim know's what i am talking about.

but listen to big tim he know's his s***!!! i am running a MAM sleeper kit and running like 5psi made like 181hp on it but i'm having alot or issues' with it cuz some is wrong with my car and can't figure it out yet. but hopefully i can get thing's going well soon so i can really get some power going. if i were u i would seafoam the car first and check to see if u have any vaccum leak's. i think that would help u out alot. good luck wit your turbo choice.

So which kit is the best? MPI or HiBoost? MAM sounds godd but too expensive.

MPI doesn't make turbo kits. You have MAM (Mental Addiction) and HIB(HIboost). It all depends on your budget and want you are wanting to do. Both are good kits. They each have Pro's and Con's.

MPI DOES make turbo kits, just doesn't mass produce them. There are 3 non-MSP kits running and 2 MSP setup's running that I know of. He will make one if someone wants one. That's good because it will be done RIGHT!!! His kit will of couse come with the MPI Tuner piggyback.

I made over 220whp @ 8psi on his kit and have been running the same setup for over 2 1/2 years. I believe I have been making the most power at 8psi for the longest time. I was running over 220whp for over a year and a half until I moved to AZ and lost some power due to the gas, altitude and heat. Show me someone else who made over 220 at 8psi for that long! The dyno FILES are on the forum somewhere, you can check them out if you don't beleive. Play with the smoothing and correction factors as well. Those numbers were SAE corrected.

I do agree, each kit will have it's pros and cons, depending on what you want to do.

BiggTim,

I'll be putting that 8psi to the test next time you come by the shop. I have a Map sensor with your name on it... I know your boost gauge reads 10psi. :)

Whatever you need to do to make you feel better :D I have NEVER ran anything else but 8psi , and the offer still stands for me to take my WG off and let you test it. Don't be jealous little man, some people are just better then others at tuning;) I made that power back east when everything was new, do you want the dyno FILES? I'll go dig them up if ya wnat.

If Emilio gets his car fixed, we will up his to 8psi and dyno back to back to see the difference. We'll put YOUR setup to the test. (thumb)

edit: Here's the File to play with. It shows 226whp. The torque is not there, the connection was bad, so use speed to see the numbers. It was on SAE and smoothing of 5. File #1

The MPI is your tuning world. You do a god job on the ones that you have helped me with. We both know that your boost gauge reads 10psi when you are here dynoing :) Dyno files don't show the PSI being run :) The files look nice BTW. The gauge reads 10psi though (nana)

We should get you, Eli, EMO and Duane's car over so we can dyno them.
Your Jesus turbo and boot guage will tell the story (breakn)

You're funny, you have NEVER dynoed my car, I have only dynoed at AZ chip and dyno! So when have you seen my "magical boost gauge" show 10psi? I would rather use a 3rd party so there is no dyno fudging......Not that YOU would ever do that?!?!??!?!?

Flying invisible now a days huh? I can do that too!
