turbo from mazdaspeed for MP5's

i have some doubts about the t25 turbo in the mazdaspeed protege becoming available for mp5's as an add on installed by a mazdaspeed dealer so it won't void your warranty.

i DO get the impression from mazda dealerships such as roger burdick in syracuse that the turbo could be made available as an upgrade.
i know you can by mazdaspeed pistons and cams for your car as an upgrade right now, and they are not replacements, they are enhancements, but the turbo unit (which also requires an intercooler, complete exhaust mod ect) may only be a repacement part order.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW AWAY TO BOOST THE HP 30+ REALISTICALLTY WITHOUT REALLY HURTING THE GAS MILEAGE> I KOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT MECHANICS> I WOULD LIKE TO SHAVE AT LEAST A SECOND OFF THE 0-60 TIME. I TIMED MY CAR AT 8.5 SECONDS FROM 0-60. (5 SPEED)
I AM NEW TO THIS, PLEASE RESET VIABLE AND SAFE MODS TO YOUR MP5 THAT ARE A GIVEN TO DO.
AND TRY TO OFFER OPINIONS THAT ARE SPECIFIC TO THE CAR UNLIKE UPGRADES THAT ARE DONE TO EVERY FREAKIN HONDA CIVIC OWNED BY A KID WITH ALL BARK AND NO BITE (LOUD EXHAUST, MINOR AIR INTAKE , KN FILTER ECT)

cosmetically...........................................
i am on a misson to collect the mazdaspeed protege parts for my car, i like to keep things stock as possible.
so once they become available (pedals, wheels, shift knob)
except for the ridiculous price of the head unit from the mp3 or the mazdaspeed protege.
i did stay with t he kenwood theme for my inside sice kenwood traditionally makes electronics that fit mazda

the mp5 is inspired by the mp3.
it's closer related to the mp3 than the new mazda speed obviously
they came out the same year,
the cars share hadling components, ground effects, foglights, red illumination, interior look ect.

so it would not be a bad idea to collect mp3 parts for your car.

anyway, i do want to keep it close to stock by emulating what mazda does.

MY BLUE MP5

llumar stealth tint 35% around.
no roof rack
mazdaspeed logo mirror tint front window
mazda logo mirror tint rear window
mp5 badging on sides and rear.
kenwood mp3 player with kenwood components and kenwood rear door speakers
jl audio monoblock 500W amp and W6 version 2 12" sub
Japanese for electronics and american for the sub and sub amp always

future mods

racing hart 17" wheels
air intake of some sort
lowering springs from mazda
yellow or silver vinyl
sparco pedals from mazda
mazdaspeed exhaust for natually aspirated (dont take a chance at losing compression, this fits your car perfectly. unless you want a deafening aftermarket rumble)
mp3 or mazdaspeed shft knob
A TURBO?????

Hello bf5 and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

as for what your dealer told you about the turbo being an upgrade? well...this has been discussed many times here...and we have gotten a lot of good information directly from Mazda....don't hold your breath waiting on the turbo to show up at your local mazdaspeed shop....its not gonna happen.

also...the P5 has been around a lot longer than the MP3....the P5 has been made for quite some time...just not imported into the US/Canada.

as for how you can realistically get 30+ hp? forced induction is about the only way that is going to happen.....

it's funny that we wannabe import auto junkies always say things that are assumtions and not expecting people to call you out.
this means that someone actually read through your post.
that's a good thing.
i really would like a turbo with a CAI and new exhaust and get 250+ hp.
i know people that have civics that say their cars achieve this with turbos and air intakes.
i don't know.
i'm really pissed cause i botched my component speaker install on the right side. i had to take all of my painstaking work (tapeing, drilling, and securing of wiring and crossovers) because the color of wires were ****** up, or i am an idiot for not understanding electrical blueprint. i dont know. when wires go through other wire harnesses along the route, things get odd.
i connected my door lock wire to my crossover by mistake and was driving my ******* tweeter mad when i would hit the auto door lock switch.
and the right side lock would not open automatically.
i don't know why i didn't test it along the way, sometimes it's fun to wing it and put it all back together and see what happens.
not again.
patience is what i lacked today.
anyway, all is good now because i did it right the 2nd time

not all civic owners are fakers, only the fake ones. All my friends have cars that are NA and will blow away even the fastest turbo'd protege on this site. (most are 12 seconds, fastest is 11 seconds for 1/4 mile time, daily driver, na) Please dont judge all honda guys, nissan guys, etc based on a couple ignorant kids around. I have begun to see plenty of riced out proteges and protege5s around my area.
also, if you run a turbo, there will be no such thing as a CAI going on your car.
But were here to talk about upgrades for our car. If youre serious, go with one of the T3 kits that run @ 7psi and get decent output. If you want 250+ hp AND same driveability/gas mileage, it may be a little bit unrealistic. turbos are efficient, but its hard to say if it will be THAT efficient. From what I saw, the guy that was running 220whp with SPOOL was running like 12-14psi? If you want to run NA, i saw someone that hit like 140-150ish whp with the jspec/mazdaspeed cams and some other internal work? thats good for a 50hp bump over most of the stock dyno runs.
I find it hard to stress this, but it IS difficult and expensive to coax a good deal of horsepower from cars. There is nothing easy about increasing a cars performance greatly. I say to you : Welcome, good luck, do all the research you can do hands on, and I hope you come out with your desired results.

Welcome:

Now to answering your questions, since Sir Nuke has dispensed with the openings.

Type-5 gave some good insight into modifying a factory automobile.
Guess it really comes down to what extent are you welling to work on you car, and how much you care about the warranty from the dealer.

For the record Mazdaspeed has "promised" ALOT for the Mazda lineup, however has yet to rarely present anything. So far they mostly seem to be all talk and very little show. No were near the mark of other Manufacture performance ventures.

Getting larger numbers from a stock engine is going to require some extensive modifications. So far there are P5 turbo cars running about, and for the most part they seem to run well. But it is going to require some tuning and monitoring.

Personally I would want to least get a strong bottom end, and internals. But I also just want to talk the N/A route and skip power adders.

But most of this stuff will void your warranty in a heart beat, and dont bet on Mazdaspeed coming through. Cause most likely your heart will give out, before they start dishing out.

The basic internal cams as mention would be a good start, then later once you've learned more about tuning and engine maintenance ...start looking into power adders.

The way I see it these cars main purpose is for road course handling. A type of racing where "massive" power can sometimes decrease the balance and overall performance of the car.
--------

Try asking (forget who they are) one of the other Turbo P5s what they went through and maybe it can shed some more light into our engines behaviors. But personally I dont see a lot of research and experience so far in that area to justify slapping turbos on cars whose owners may not be prepared for the often heartbreaking time of troubleshooting and repairing.

NOT TRUE....as INJEN just finished and has on the market a CAI for the Mazdaspeed.....

Yep, though havent notice much a diference in the application of CAI in DSMs. Most I've seen simply run it righ after the MAF in its stock location. Maybe put a "heat shield" around it but thats it. Compared to the few who try to route it elsewhere which is hard to do with a FMIC.
