watch as I bump this thread........
Ok, my car will be running Perfs kit. I have a 2002.5 Protege ES with the "sportshift" Automatic. I'll be sure to post as much as I can about how it goes.
I don't beat on my car. I have almost 18,000 miles on my car now. I have been running it on Regular unleaded gas (87 octane) and all my oil changes have been with Mobil 1 5w-30w every 3000. When I got the car I changed the oil at 500 miles, then 1500, then 3000. I try to be nice on it, but occasionally I'll drive aggressively. Fastest I've driven it is roughly 108-110.
Perf and I discussed things yesterday at the shop, leaving the Racing beat exhaust, eliminating the pre-cat, internal wastegate. I can't remember much more than that. My first goal is keeping it safe, though I really want to hit 200WHP and I don't think that is a completely unrealistic goal.
One thing I have thought about is this. "They" say the stock tranny won't take more than 4.5 psi. Yet no one has tried. FM as far as I know is still looking for a test car, wait - that can't be right. I am sure someone has volunteered by now. Hell - I would expect several people have.
If I'm wrong - then please reply if you have put a Turbo on your Automatic, or if you know a member on the forum who has. I've been searching and I found a thread
here. that says Spool has a few kits on auto's. Where are these people? Let's hunt them down and get some feedback.
This Thread has some info on what the tranny can handle, although it's kind of hard to verify the source.
This thread mentions a member who did turbo. Anyway, I think that's pretty good for now. If you find any threads that have pertinent information, please reply and add them to the thread.
The best thing about our forum, other than the members themselves, is that everything is archived. From a troubleshooting perspective, this is an invaluable asset. I will post everything that happens, and that is all I ask of anyone else.
I'll probably be making the drive down to Spool's open house with Perf and a few other NJ people. I'll look forward to seeing everyone. I'm fairly easy to pick out, short, glasses, shaved head, and the occasional evil smile.
