Turbo Charger Comparison

I am still learning and much of it is done by reading your posts.

I have the opportunity to purchase a T3 Super 60 turbocharger for around $620 USD. It hasn't been used.

My question is what are the characteristic differences versus the Garrett t3 turbo (i believe found on spoolin's kit)?

Is that a good price? and Terry can it be used in your stage 2 kit?

Any help would be great.

Yeah it shoud work the super 60 utilizes a slightly bigger housing and compressor. Find out what stage turbine and the size of the housing. 620 is a fair price. And yes it should work with our kits

Thanks terry for the quick response....I guess knowing what the stage of the turbine and the size of the housing will help answer the difference in performance.

Inherently, what are some of the differences in performance?

well what I would suggest is a stage 1 turbine with .48 housing. You can go a little bigger to like .62 but not more. You will loose a couple rpm in spool up but I think its a good turbo with those specs.

Hey Spoolin, while you are here, I'm about to buy a kit from you, and I want to know, what turbo woudl be best for my protege5

I want the fastest spool up possible, and I just want 200hp at the wheels, no more than that. That's including having a stage III intercooler, 2.5" exhaust, hi flow cat, and all that jazz. So what turbo? Apparently my friend demands I get a 16g.

Terry,

Here are the updated specs, I Still would love your thoughts on this. (picture included)

Innovative Turbonetics T3 Super 60
slightly larger exducer/inducer than a regular 60
.63 a/r exhaust
Stage III turbine

Thats a big as turbo....stage3:eek:
I would not run that with an FMU and definetly without an intercooler.
If you want you can give me a call and we can talk some more about it, but I would not reccomend it for what you are going with

Taking your expectations into consideration the t3 will work fine. Because the 16g will not work with our bolt up I dont think its a good candidate:)

sorry to bring this back up

I have been trying to learn as much on turbos....can anyone read compressor maps..... I have found one for the t3 Super 60 I now have (not yet installed)

The super 60 compressor is a great application match for our 2.0 liter, however that is not why I am urging you to stay away from that turbo. Its that that compressor mated to the size turbine wheel and housing you are running is a bit much. If you can get that compressor setup with a .48 a/r exhaust housing and stage 1 wheel you are good to go;)

spoolin is right
the stage i turbine is perfect for our motors
i have the same turbine for mine
.63 wouldnt be bad but the stage 3 wheel is the problem for that particular set up your looking to do
