turbo bad! help, need new one

we've had our car in to the shop for a routine service and they've just told us that oil has been leaking in the turbo for some time causing everything internally to go by-by. So I need to get a new turbo and am looking to not go past $2000. Thanks for any suggestions!

There is a GT2554 in the FS section for $350 plus a GT28RS for $750

thanks. We just got quoted by our mazda dealership for $3000 for a complete OEM replacement, parts+labour. So if i was gonna try going for a gt28rs what else would i need to buy to complete that setup? My car has done 62k miles currently and has no other mods. Thanks for any more help!

the gt28rs should be a direct bolt on. Nothing else is needed I believe. Just make sure the boost stays at a reasonable level so you don't blow your engine. I think when you get a new turbo installed, you have to go through a process called priming or clocking the turbo to get oil flowing through it..something like that. Anyone feel free to correct me if I am missing something. Overall, the 28rs is a direct bolt on.

you may need new fittings for the oil line, iirc. i wouldn't put it on your car without a FMIC and a free'd up exhaust. just my .02

you have to get a new intake for the turbo. the gt28rs has a bigger mouth on it so u cant use the stock air box
