turbo and stock auto = i just blew my tranny

That really sucks to hear. I am running an auto as well. I plan to start with 6psi. Would runnign a trani oil cooler help alliviate any problems. Let us know how it goes after the new converter. Did you wreck the fins or did you balloon it. Can I ask you this. When you were at the lights would bring the converter up to stall and hold it then release and hit the gas??? Like at the race track? That happens in drag race cars(old ones). The converter will ballon from holding at stall to long under lots of power. Let me know cause if thats the case then the converter and trani will handle some power just can't keep the converter at stall for long?? TTY

no you do not want to hold your convertor in, i only did that at the strip and for like maybe 2 seconds on one pass.

tranny cooler is a MUST MUST MUST. 6psi, be careful. do not go over that. i was not a dumb ass the held the converter, that did nuetral drops, and yes i ran 13 psi but that was in 4th gear after its done been thru its shifts. peace- trav

Thanx for the info. You didn't sound like the type that would treat the equiptment bad.. :) Keep us posted.. TTY

well guys, i took it to my buds tranny shop. since my tranny is pure electronic pretty much it is not the convertor. synchros, valvue body, stator, they were like, i am surprised there isnt any clutch material in the fluid. it looks like a bomb went off inside it.

i guess i will just have to send my tranny to lentech and have them rebuild it bullet proof.

thought i was having a stroke of good luck but, nope.

peace - trav:(

bad!!!!! Trany cooler for me for sure.. Were you running one decked? TTY

yeah. but tranny cooler wont solve your problem, i mean it will help a great deal but just dont go over 5 psi and drive it nice. i dont want to see anyone have to go thry this, as in, i cant run my power unless i convert to a manual. major suckage.

Yes I definately know the tranny coller will not solve any problems but it will help even a tiny bit... I think I will go to 6 psi but no higher.. Thanx for all the info .. TTY

in fact im taking a break and watching F&F 1, i love the 12 speed trannys in those cars.

(lol)

There is your answer. . .get yourself one of those. . .do the write up. . .I might get one too! (laugh)

Couldn't resist!

today i pulled the tranny. talk about A b****, i dont know about you manual guys but the autos are bigger and hard to get to s***. anyways, i am replacing it with a stock auto for now and i have located a MSP tranny for 600 i need a ECU and the cluster and clutch stuff and I will convert to a manual soon. i will keep you posted. i will get pics tomorrow.

btw, its VERY easy to get to your rear motor mount to pop in the AWR, and for the oil send line for your turbo. i will be putting in the awr rear and redo my oil line, but i will not put my tranny temp sensor in this tranny since i will not be boosting and i will sell it when i get my MSP one in.

fun fun, major b****. peace- trav

where you got your MSP tranny. Its either that or I will sell my P5 and try get a HiBoost MSP.

Mine still ok, no problems yet. But I want more, I want to reach the 300whp, and I know the tranny aint going to like it.

This boost s*** is addicting.

I hope I didn't miss this point coming out in this thread, but simply changing the torque converter won't make the tranny any stronger... :-/

I know Level 10 can do AMAZING things w/ the AT's in Lightnings; for enough money you can have them do GREAT things to the ATX too.

If I had my druthers, I'd rater have an ATX anyway...easier/faster launching, lightning quick shifts... :)

auto trannies can be really good if done right. If you saw the Sport Compact Car with the auto wrx that does a 13.3 quarter. It is very fast nd amazing what that tranny can do. It goes into what gear you want when you want. To launch it, you pump the brakes and put it in second and rev up to 5500 rpm and then let off the brakes and shove into first. You can also change the shift points with a laptop. But to do stuff like this it takes a lot of cash.

So a manual is usually more cost effective when you need control.

I believe the 9 second Easy Street WRX is also an auto tranny :)

yea a lot of drag car have autos. Like those supras and other cars that run at NOPI events, because with that much power you can give up the losses.
