Tuner Hoods(ram air)

Personally, I dont thin kthere is much to worry about...If you have hoodpins installed...I highly doubt the hood is going anywhere..that "Offroad use only" thing is just to cover their ass incase sum1 botches the install of their hoodpins and it goes flying off...

Here is a question for everyone who has bought an aftermarket hood..How are the hinge pieces attached? When I get a hood, I want to try and make it open reverse by taking the hinges and relocating them to the front of the car..How hard would this be? How hard would it be to reolocate the hinge revievers on the hood?

You won't get pulled over for an illegal hood unless you're attracting attention to yourself by driving like an idiot.

SLP Hoods have internal e-coated harware which are bonded in a reinforced fiberglass area. We have gone trough great extend to design the best possible aftermaket hood.

Just to clarify only SLP Tuner Hoods require hood pins, these are not functional and are for off-road use only.

SLP PowerProducts hoods are functional, have a complete bottom skin, and they are sold with an air induction bellows which uses your OE box to make it functional.

Most of the engineering in designing a SLP hood goes into developping the bottom skin. Which is reflected in the added value of the complete hood. For consumers who's goal is simply to reduce weight and have a good look the tuner hoods are great. (As in racing applications) For some models it adds room in the engine bay to install a supercharger or other hardware. So "poser" can be misleading

Hey SLP its me Jeremy I called you last week before you went to the Nashville SEMA show .. i was the one that mentions our group here adn also talked to you about my buddy who owns an import shop who would be interested in your business .. he also went to the sema show and said he would look for you ... his name is Harry and he owns Racing Innovations in Knoxville .. www.racinginnovations.com how did it go or did you meet him there i havent been able to call him yet ...

This is not the guy you talked with. You probably spoke with Dean, customer Relations. I am Joseph, Engineering Manager.

oops

well is that the man that went to the Sema show in Nashville Tn last friday ? .. if so would you be able to pass this note and see if he struck a deal with Harry from Knoxville Tn on the hoods
thanks in advance ..and i will say if that is the guy then you have on hell of an employee he is super perfessional and deffinatly cares about your customers .. he was very curtious and went above and beyond to assist me with my questions about your products

I kinda wish that we could get a hold of a demo hood for the protege 5 so i could show it around and i know of 4-5 people here in knoxville that would scoop them up right away if they got to see one in person .. I love the one hinge mount (2 pin) hood ... and these 4-5 people in no even including all the members here that are interested and it helps if one of our members speaks on it . not saying that your word is not of value but i hope you know where im coming from.

thanks again
Jeremy

Is knoxville near nashville? If so I can get a hood to you. You can try it on your car and then decide at that point. No one as been disaponted to date. What you do is either have a speedshop give me a call so i can setup a set of hoods to be shipped down as samples. if want more pictures I can email them to you. I have various shots.

I was just joking that the SLP Tuner Hood was the non-functional version implying that tuners were posers. I wasn't saying the hood itself was a poser.

What's funny at 5 or 6am just after getting back from the club may not seem so funny after some sleep.

They are sweet looking hoods. But I probably wouldn't waste my time with the non functional hood. But I wouldn't waste my $ on t functional hood. Hehe. Very nice hoods tho, I must say.

Another prob w/ the functional hood...if one is boosted (or has CAI), it's no longer functional because of the location of the intake.

And isn't water a problem?

I was just thinking that the picture of the undertray looks like there is a lip to reduce water going into the OEM airbox but that also means water could pool in the undertray. I could be missing something, though.

The water makes it down th chanel given the slope of the hood, and is channel towards the front of the hood, then the air continues to the OE airbox set up. So the main air manifold is removed which is located on top of the rad support, to route the air directly to the box. The best set up we have found was a KN drop in filter and our hood. It was better than an open cone since this way you insure cold air to the engine.

ok i will do .. nashville is like 2 hours away from me .. so its no biggie and i will have my buddy harry call you asap .. you are a GOD .. thank you thank you

Does anyone in the us sell these yet, and another thing do the factory washer nozzles fit, I read somewhere that they didnt, but looking at the pics there are some in the yellow P5.Or Are they just blank holes? Thanks.
Mike
Another thing about the yellow one is he either has one hell of a tinted windshield or someone did some photoshopping.

The SLP Powerproducts hoods (the functional ones) have precut washer nozles holes, same as OE hood. The Tuner versions do not have the cut outs done. As for US distributors racing innovations is in the works of getting some mazda hoods or you can email me on the group buy. I just completed the first one but i might make another one, basically its 10% off minimum buy is 5.

Contact with SLP Powerproducts?

Anyone else have any luck contacting SLP Powerproducts about a hood? I've tried both Dean and Joseph and had no luck.
