Trying to sell the Protege!

Upgrading to a GRD built Audi TT, but I need to sell my speed Protege first. Just wondering, what do you guys think I should be asking? I'm from Illinois and I've seen some sell for around $8,000 with more miles and less mods. Car runs great, but has a few minor defects. I've listed some info on the car below:

-84,000 miles
-Silver metallic
- 2nd owner

The GOOD:
- Circuit Sport Side Mount Intercooler
- SLS Hard Pipes
- Custom Stainless Steel Cat-less J-Pipe/Midpipe and Racing Beat catback exhaust (car just passed emissions)
- AWR 4 piece motor mounts
- NGK -1 Spark plugs
- Split Second PSC1 Air/Fuel Tuning
- JoeP Manual Boost Controller (@9psi)
- ProSport Boost gauge and steering wheel pod
- Centri Pro Rotors
- HPS Street Pads
-New starter, struts, battery cables, master cylinder, and throttle body.

The Bad:
- Clutch is still original, and doesn't slip, but I would assume the new owner would want to replace this and the flywheel.
- 2 Minor dents. one on the front bumper and one on the passenger rear.
- Needs one new endlink and front passenger control arm bushings... I will replace before sale.
- New battery
- E-brake cable is stretched

HOPE THIS HELPS!! I have it listed for $9,500 currently

GLWS, but you need proper pics. And just a word from someone who has one for sale - you'll never get more than $7500. $6500 is probably even more realistic.

Yeah I've been doing a lot of research on this recently, as I keep going back and forth with selling mine or trying to improve upon its flaws.

$9500 is pretty much out of the question. I've seen a few listed that high at dealers, but they list ridiculous prices so that they can knock off 3-4 grand and make people think they got a deal.

Mods are worth absolutely $0 on the car. It's just a fact of life. To make matters worse, anything beyond an intake will just make it harder to sell. My advice is to always return a car to as stock as possible before selling it and resell the aftermarket parts.

Pope is about right with his numbers. Some sellers get lucky, some buyers get lucky, but even in really good condition, $7k is about the mean right now.

My major concern is how do you plan on selling the car with the AWR motor mounts? I sold my AWR mounts a while back and went to inserts because I was fed up with the vibration. It's better now, but still bad enough I think it would turn off many buyers.

I also wouldn't try selling the car with a piggy back on it. There are just too many things that can go wrong and the new owner or even a mechanic would have no idea how to fix it.

The rest of the mods would just depend on how easily you can get the stock parts, as they all swap easily and sell pretty quickly on the forums. MBC, IC, hard pipes, mid pipe, and exhaust could fetch close to a grand depending on condition.

In response to your bad list, fix everything you can before listing your car for sale. I have two used front end links in good shape if you need them. PM me if you want them. I replaced my torn up control arm bushing with urethane bushings earlier this year. It's a huge pain, and I would recommend just buying two new control arms.

Batteries aren't cheap, but I am pretty sure the e-brake cable can be adjusted.

I have 72k miles and am still on my original clutch as well, and as you probably know you are getting very close to new belt mileage. I am having a hard time deciding whether I will get anything out of doing the belts and clutch before I put it up for sale or not. The clutch still has no problem breaking traction in the first two gears, but I feel like a new one might have a nicer engagement. My feeling is, neither would change the sale price of the car very much, and while I would most likely do the labor myself, my time isn't free, and the parts certainly add up if you do the job right.

Since you are looking to sell pretty soon, I wouldn't bother with the clutch or belts.

So in short, return to stock, list for $7k, and sell the parts.

I think one problem you might have in selling it for that is you would have to find someone with that much cash. Because most banks wont finance a car for more than the high end of KBB.

It's hard enough to find a bank that will loan to a private used sale, let alone above KBB.

Wish I could part out more... many parts I replaced due to stock parts being in poor condition. Even still, I think I will try and sell the Split Second AFC, MBC, SMIC, Gauge and Pod, and motor mounts. Would be nice to get around $750 or so for all that. All the parts are less than a year old. Gotta walk away with at least $6500 to be able to finance the TT. wish me luck

Is the SSAFC a V2? You could certainly make some of your money back by selling those parts. And although I bought my car a year ago, I feel $6500 is completely fair on both sides (I paid $6500 w/86k miles, bone stock).
