so i just got an 04 madza3 about 3 months ago... my check engine light just came on this morning.
Could it be that its due for an oil change or "maintenance"? like... does the light come on when its due for an oil change? cuz i know that GM engine lights come on until they are reset after the oil change.
it runs fine, not revving high, nothing wrong that i can tell...

im just hoping this isnt some pricey ass issue... i just got the car and i just bought a house - i cant afford anything to be wrong with this car.

no the light just wont come on for no reason. Have you modded anythin gon the car? or did the previous owner?
I get a CEL when i drive hard in therain because of my CAI the MAF doesnt like to get wet....
Did your light come on after you did something specific?

invest in a code reader (if you plan on doing any engine mods) or got to an autozone and have them read it for you, let us know what they got? it could be a 100 different things!

hm... ok.
no i havent done anything to it, neither did the prev owner (that i know of)
i dont plan on doing any mods or anything...
yea i think ill go to autozone later and see what happens.

still get the vehicle checked out, but the most common CEL/MIL light is caused by a loose gascap. just a thought.
