Trunk button issues?

Besides the electronic button on the trunk, is there another way to open the trunk of a 2011-2014 Mazda 2?

I think my button is faulty. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

Also, is it normal that you need to press and hold the remote unlock button for nearly a full second to unlock the doors?

I think the trunk won't release if the car is running, could that be part of the problem?
