i've searched and searched for a 'how-to' on getting trim pieces off. i got a cf trim piece kit but i guess i'm kinda scared on just trying to rip some of the pieces off the car. i think i can handle the one around the shifter and around the gauge cluster. my biggest fear is getting the one off around the head unit. if anyone can help me out on this that would be great. pics would definately help on this one to. if you got a site to go to, give me the link to it. thanx for the help

for the one around the head unit, you pry it off... but you have to also disconnect 2 cords for the HVAC controls... one is up under the drivers side dash, the other one you have to remove the glove box to get to. Sorry, don't have any pics, but i bet someone else can describe better than I...

its super easy. push your two ac vents forward and put your fingers in there and grip onto the beazel downwards. then pull. it pulls right off.

??

When i took it off, you had to remove the cables for the HVAC controls if you had any hope of getting the trim peice more than an inch away from the dash.

True. You pull straight out to get it away from the dash, but the cables/wires prevent you from pulling it out all the way.

is there certain areas to pry from?? or just a big ass pry bar in there and go to town? lol i'm not gonna do that, but what i mean is, whats the best thing to pry it away with? is there just clips that hold it on? cuz obviously i'm gonna put a new piece in so if it does break, it's okay, BUT i definately don't want that to happen!

i just got a small flathead screwdriver, and pryed a bit in one area... its clipped down in, IIRC, 6 places, but once you get one part up a lil, you should be able to use your fingers, just to avoid any accidental damage to the dash.

Once you get the cables off...Turn the vents all the way down and grab and pull from there with your hands..lightly pull and voila!

dont the trim pieces just overlay or am i missing something?

Don't use a py bar or screwdriver of any kind! It's not needed. What you have to do is remove the panel on the driver's side (right leg side). You should be able to see a black cable (kind of looks like a bicycle brake cable) for the HVAC. Unhook it from from the clip holding the cable itself and the end where it is looped to the HVAC control (white stud). You'll have to depress a little clip attached to the stud to remove the cable completely.

Next, go to the passenger side and remove the glove box. Open it, squeeze in both sides at the top to realease it, then remove the entire box from the pivot clips. If you look to the HVAC area as you did with the driver's side, you will see the cable controlling the fan speed. Same process as above, remove it.

Now you can point the 2 middle vents down, grip and pull straight towards you. You will need to pull fairly firmly. You will feel that you are going to break something, but it just takes some force, it'll come out. Be careful not to pull too far though (just enough to get it away from the dash).

Once that is done, you can go ahead and unclip the remaining attached electrical plugs.

I just realized I forgot to mention that you have to have your HU removed before hand.

To put everything together is just the opposite. Don't forget to reconnect the cables to the HVAC controls. Also, connect them correctly (routing) or else you will get stiffer controls.

yea... if its the dg interior, its all just an overlay.. you dont remove anything... double sided 3m tape is your friend.

:( i thought they were like replaicement... i would like to get like a fg or cf dash... full replaicement that would be lighter and cooler :)
