rotating tires is a crock of s*** anyway. it's just a way for the tire places to make some extra money...which would you rather do. wear the fronts and replace them when they are bare or move tires around and have to replace 4 at once. 2 tires are much easier to replace than 4...especially for your typical protege driver

Well, I usually do it myself, but that is a good point. The only problem I see w/ that is that ya, you'd be replacing only 2 at a time, but you'll be replacing them (generally) much sooner than if you rotated them to keep the wear even between the four. Not a flame, just an observation...

That statement is a crock of s***. You should at the very least rotate front to rear on a regular basis. It isn't that hard, you can do it with your spare tire and jack.

Front and rear tires wear differently (more so on RWD cars). To get the most wear without riding on them when they are unsafe (such as the person who started this thread) you should rotate them front to rear every 7,500mi.

In wet weather, your car can become very unpredictable if the rear tires are not evenly worn with the front tires...especially if one set is close to its end of life.

But that also means that you get fresh NEW tires on your car more often

If you enjoy paying for tires then do whatever you want. Most people want to maximize the life of their tires so they can replace them LESS often.

Wow, on top of being beat-up here "riding on them when they are unsafe (such as the person who started this thread)" my Toronto Maple Leafs lost last night to Ottawa in their second shoot-out so far this season.

Not to (deadhorse but I fully realize this was unsafe. If the decision was completely mine, I would have replaced them last year. Those tires sucked when they had tread and got worse as they went along.

I am going to have the rear winters installed (the summer rims always get stuck to the rotors) and an alignment done at 3:00 PM.

Question: Should I have my winters rebalanced? I have used them for two winters, so I think I should, but I don't really know.

^wrong, rear tires will cup if you don't rotate them. if you've ever run your hand over tires that have never been rotated or not rotated enough, they may have alot of tread, but they will be very rough. this uneven-ness causes road noise, and once it's in the tread, they don't fix themselves if you rotate. you just drive them till the noise drives you nutz.........sold tires 5 yr w/ NTB........i have a slight clue.
