Transmissions in these Miatas are kinda whiny, aren't they? MT and AT.

N7turbo

2023 CX-5 2.5T ... 2024 MX-5 RF GT
Per the title. I understand the lack of insulation but I think the transmission is just inherently noisy.

Car has 60 miles, so I hope all is well.

Dealer tested their other '24 and said it also made the same sound. I'll get some audio recordings posted.

bringing a thread back from the dead.... @N7turbo looks like you have a miata with the auto, are you happy with it? enough giddy up compared to the CX5 turbo? kind of got an itch for something sporty. my BIL has a Honda S2000 and would be kind of fun to do some road trips together down the western coast....My wife won't want to ever drive a manual so not sure I want to go with one. She knows how so in an emergency she could get by but if the auto feels peppy enough I actually would rather have an auto these days too. have you taken any longer trips in it? thanks

I'm pretty set on a BRZ 1st or 2nd gen or toyota/scion counterpart. It will accomodate larger drivers better.

The CX-5 definitely feels more powerful in case anyone is wondering, but yeah it's a fun car to drive. The auto can be used in manual mode just the same for a more engaging experience. That's all it is, user experience, because manuals aren't faster, they just feel that way.

No longer trips, but it's much louder than the CX-5 on the highway. There's very little sound deadening to tame the road noise. The suspension is great though.

Also, update on the sound.

I have reason to believe it could be something on the engine of these cars, but I don't know what. It peaks at 3,000 RPM in any gear, or no gear.

I am only 5'10 and wife 5'2 so hopefully a miata will fit.I have never actually sat in one tho..
I'm 6'3. I only fit with the roof down, and seat as far back as it goes. It was bearable. For a short ride. And probably the most exciting car I've driven. It was quick too. You should fit fine.

One of my friends that I had sit in the passenger seat of the ND3 was 6'3". Yeah, it wasn't going to be comfortable for him with the RF closed up.

I would say anything over 6 feet is sketchy and it's going to come down to your torso length.

I wouldn't fit with it up, period. And my legs are longer relative to my torso .
