Transmission Swap and Gearing

I'm trying to do a little re-search on these transmissions. I have a 94 MX6 Base and looking to do a transmission swap or gear swap. See what transmission will bolt up to the FSDE and what gear can been swapped, final Drives Swap, crap like that. Right now I have a lot of time on my hand, but can't work on anything because I here in Iraq for about 2 more months, so all I can do is re-search and study. I don't know much about the transmissions on our cars, but willing to learn. (Probe Base-GT, MX6 Base-2.5L, Escort, 626, Protege.) If the transmission can be swapped for better gearing or the insides swapped.

Well one thing I can tell you is that our trans. can't hold power well passed 350hp of so, so if you are trying to make alot of power, alot of guys swap in GTX gears.

And I do believe the final drive ratio from the V6 trans can be swapped into ours as well. But it's a shorter gear ration so you're better off keeping the final drive you have.

I'm looking for about 200hp or somewhere around that. Couldn't find a thread on this subject so I put one up. I don't drive alot on the highway, so the faster I can accel the happier I might be and I like to be a little bit different. Everyone is about lots of HP, but its not alway who has the most HP. I'll look more in to it. Maybe pick up a couple transmission and see what I can pull off when I get home. I'm all about having a quick Base Model.
