Transmission refuses to go into first and other issues

Hello guys, I have a Mazda6 2014 model. I just bought it and I have observed something annoying. When on slow drive or traffic it refuse to go into 1st gear and any gear I select it keeps going backward. Even when I put it on 5th gear it keeps getting to reverse.

Please any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Probably to protect the engine. In a manual if you drop it into first, say at 15 mph you will get a sudden slow down, possibly causing a rear end collision.
