Traded my 08 Mazdaspeed 3 in this past weekend

Sweetness, im searching for low 12's on street tires and 11's on drag radials daily driven, which shouldnt be TO difficult. Glad to see you're still enjoying it.

Anyway back to the SRT6. Regarding my trek for the 11's- I'm getting another tune in the fall and will start hitting the track again. I'm pretty confident I'll see 11.9-11.8. If I keep cutting weight (dieting) and remove my passenger seat I may even see 11.7. More and more people on my Crossfire forum are getting into the 11's club just the other day a member posted this: http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/crossfire-srt6/36753-i-lost-race-but.html

I'm glad it's working out; you are encouraging me to move on to something that I can really enjoy driving on the track.

Haaaaaa whatever! If I see ya on the road and we race, I will flat your tires first :).

Nice !!!!

Dude you've been bitching and complaining about your POS MS3 for the last 2yrs. Get rid of it already! Hopefully next time you test drive the car before you buy.

I guess it's all about perspective. I find the MS3 to be very good and quite a lot of fun at the track. It's hard not to have fun when I'm spanking cars (drivers) that don't expect to be spanked by a mazda hatch. The SRT6 is one of the last cars I'd pick for fun on a road course. Drag race sure.

But then I cut my teeth on the track with AWD cars, and find that the MS3 is very close in behavior so it was easy for me to push 9-10/10ths in the car consistently. It may be different for you since you are accustomed to RWD. Let me just say this - I have passed many a fast RWD car on the track with my FWD mazda ;)

Obviously it is more indicative of driver skill than anything, but to compare it to a car we all know, I find the MS3 to be comparable to an E46 M3 with the same tires. I haven't met a S2k that could keep up, EVO's are tough competition with the right driver, ditto STI's. Miata's have been very tough, perhaps they are piloted by better drivers at the events I go to. I got my ass handed to me by a Mcoupe (240hp version) with hoosiers. I guess my point is, if you're not having fun the MS3, it's just in your mind, not the car :P (my tone is meant to be very light and I mean no disrespect to your preferences)

+1 fastdreams. If if you want a straight line car buy a mustang. MS3's are not drag cars. They were more meant for road course tracks obviously. All good fun though!

Here's the deal- I instruct at BMW CCA HPDEs. A lot of the younger drivers have been bringing Civics, GTIs, and such to the track. I thought the MS3 would be a fun change of pace and would also help me out a bit when instructing in FWD cars. Good idea in theory. Not so much in practice. Regardless, this may be all academic at this point, as I'm looking at a couple of ///M cars this weekend...(2thumbs)

Cool, fair enough. For me the Mazda is cheap thrills - and I got exactly that.

The right ///M would be nice indeed. (as in, not a 'vert and/or SMG)

I still want an E36 M3, but I may swap the engine for an LS1 :D E46 M3 is growing on me. Always have loved the clown shoe cars.

Bump....

As of today I have the best of both worlds.
