So I went to the track yesterday and made 7 runs. Could have made at least 20 more, not too many people there. Anyway, very first run was a 15.878 @89.67mph, wheel spin in first and second. Disappointed to say the least. Kicked the gf out, got back to the line, launched at a bit lower rpm, around 2500. Ran a 15.437 @91.45mph. Still a bit of wheel spin, chirpped second. On all runs, I was shifting at about 6500rpm.

On my third run, matched up with a 93 Scirroco VR6 with a CAI. Pretty close race, I ended up beating him by about half a car length, only because he missed 2nd, he was gaining at the finish. I ran my quickest run of the night, a 15.379 @ 90.67mph. That run was my best 60' time of 2.292 sec, 330' @6.537, 1/8 @ 9.977 @ 71.99mph. I finished the quarter with a 15.379 @ 90.67. My launch was at about 2000rpm and just kind of feathered the clutch. The Scirroco best run of the night was a 15.144 @ 93mph.

My car is stock with the exception of my home made CAI (picture below), didn't even touch the tire pressure or anything. One thing though, I was running out of steam in third on the runs so I was having to shift into 4 about 200ft from the end. But on two runs I just left it in 3rd. Ended up at about 7000rpm and man there is nothing up there. The second time I did it, I hit either the rev limiter, or the fuel cut-out. Sounded more like a rev limiter.

Now for the holy s*** part. There was a brand new WRX STi there and those bad boys are quick. Don't even think about taking one of those on! He was running 13.4's @ 105 right off the showroom floor!! Nice, nice cars. There was also a Neon SRT-4 there, and he was running mid 14's. There was also an Eagle Talon there and that car was FAST. He was ripping off 12.3's and 12.4's while granny shifting!! With his 12.3 he did 119mph!! So he could have been in the 11's easy. I didn't stick around to see what he had done to it, but I'm sure it had some cash in it.

Fun night, I'm going back in a couple of weeks once I get my mbc and afr gauge installed.

nice intake, a very clean homemade modification - what material did you use and how hard was it?

Didn't take to long to make. I used 3" stove pipe from Lowes, and the ribbed part is from an 87 Thunderbird TurboCoupe. The K&N in the fenderwell is from my 89 Mustang. Since I had the filter, I spend about $15 on the rest of the parts. I'll do another post with a series of pics showing how I did it.

falkofore you up in canada? I5 is probably the quickest way down, then catch the seattle bremerton ferry. Not sure how far it is, or how long it takes. Haven't been up to Vancouver since I was a little kid.
