When I bought my MP3 last year and went to the track with the car stock, I almost got exactly what you got. These cars are just not meant for the 1/4 mile, more like autocross. The only thing you could do is get some mods to help you get a little time off. I changed my motormounts right after that, since those were killing me off the line.

what i dont get is how the hell am i running 16.8's at 81mph when in my eclipse i ran a 16.2 at liek 65

the gs-t pulls harder in the 1/8 because of the turbo, but doesnt really have low end power. so what would happen if you would race the eclipse, he would pull alot further in the begining, but in the end you would be close to catching up.

ahhh that makes alot of sence i did power break it and i noticed with the eclipse i would own about any car off the line but down toward the end of the track i would ither have gotten caught up to or lost.
turns out that im getting 4700$ from mom's disibilty what should i send it on?

Proteges are slow in the 1/4 mile. Spend $200 on going to Hallett in Oklahoma on October 28th for some High Speed Touring. There is a fairly large group from Wichita headed down- me in my Saturn, some C5 Vettes and Z06s, a Viper, some SVT Foci, some VWs. I've run with a Ford GT, Ferrari F430 (I think), VW R32, C6 Z06, Aerial Atom, a Noble and many other cool cars at this track.

You may need to register to view the thread.

This is a full session of a friend driving his Saturn. I'm in the passenger seat.

It gives you a pretty good feel for how a session goes. The black 944 and white Miata shouldn't alter their line when they get passed, other than that though, you should be able to pick up where "the line" is on the track from this video.

Hope to see you there!

looks sweet! is there a way we could meet up and i follow u guys up there. what about helments.

Ah yes- helmets. Hallett does have a limited quantity of helmets available to rent/borrow, but I wouldn't count on them being available to use. Instead, go to a motorcycle shop in town and get a helmet. The helmet MUST have a SNELL rating sticker underneath the padding on the inside. Only a DOT rating is worthless. An open face helmet with a SNELL rating will cost about $75 or so. A closed face helmet with a SNELL rating will cost $110 or so. I have a closed face helmet because I think open face helmets look goofy.

We might be organizing a caravan to head down. I'll let you know if and when and where we're meeting.
