Track Day at Talladega GPR

How many people would be interested in a track day at Talladega GPR? The cost would be about $160 per person, the cut-off would be 12 participants. It would have to take place on a Monday-Thursday to keep it from being over $200 per person.

I'm David. I haven't really posted here a whole lot, but I am just dying to do a track day. I just recently got out of motorcycle racing and bought a MazdaSpeed3. I want to take it to the track, but I can't afford to rent out the track for a whole day by myself. Good company at a track day would also be a whole lot more enjoyable than being out there by myself.

David,

A name... great... but why should people give you money to set up a track day is what I am getting at?

Have you organized track days before? How familiar are you with TGPR? Many of us have been out there before and know the routine.

What are your credentials.

Presenting a sound plan rather than just randomly asking might garner more responses.

Not trying to be a dick but when someone with only 7 posts asks for money and to set up an event with a high risk I ask questions.

Sorry. I see where you are coming from. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me who sets it up. It would be better for a better-known member here to do rather than myself. Would you be interested? I wouldn't mind helping you with all of the details. I have organized three track days at Talladega, but all of them were for motorcycles. We also set up a race school to teach motorcyclists that were new to the track the basics of getting around the track successfully. I just recently got out of the motorcycle racing scene. I really want to get back on the track with my car, though. I am very familiar with setting up track days at Talladega, but I really am not too interested in being the main guy doing this any more. I just really want to get back on the track and am trying to generate some interest here to see how many people would like to do it.

Much better, thankyou!

:)

When are you wanting to do this? I am probably not doing anything else this year after Road Atlanta this weekend as it will be too cold.

Many of us in the ATL autoX on a regular basis and I have done a few track days here and there.

Next year I might be interested.

My Speed3 is red.

I have no date in mind. I am very flexible with my schedule and can do it pretty much any time. I want to see what is best for everyone. My guess would be a Monday would probably be more agreeable for most people, rather than a Tues. through Thurs. That would give us the weekend to get ready for it, with plenty of rest on Sunday beforehand.

How do I get involved in AutoX? (Although I think my Speed3 is better equipped for high-speed sweepers, rather than tight switchbacks.)

Just checked it out. Thanks for the info. I will definitely have to try my hand at this to see if I like it.

I have got some feelers out in a few different locations. As soon as I can get 10 people who definitely want to do this, we can get the ball rolling.
