Running down 80 near Roseville, and suddenly hear a dreaded PONG! noise from the rear of the car. s***. Far too loud to be a rock being spat out by a tire. I drove along another 1/2 mile, waiting for flat tire noise, when I hear a BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. The little tire warning light went on, and then the sucker started to ka-thump.....totally flat.
Took it off the freeway, and there was my left rear with a 4 inch piece of metal file in it. Definitely one of the more dramatic pieces of road hazard I've ever picked up.
Had the tire replaced, and one thing is for sure: Goodyear RS-As are frigging expensive.
The TPMS sensor is a chunky little black plastic box attached to the inside of the valve stem. I only got a glance at it, but I think that's what it was.
