Toyo tires

Mazda 3i Touring
Hey guys! I own a 2008 Mazda 3 with a little over 18k miles. I love my car but I hate the tire noise. It sounds like a freaking truck with off road tires! I have rotated them every 6k miles religiously but that has not helped. It is obvious that I have to get new ones. I'm searching for suggestions for tires because I've heard a lot of trash about the OEM Toyo's that it came with. Any ideas? Thanks!!!(usa)

I liked the Toyo Proxes4 I had on my old Protege. Good solid street/commuter tire.
I have Toyo T1R on my CRX...fantastic dry/warm weather tire. Scary in the rain.

I'm on my second set of BFGoodrich G-Force Super Sport A/S on my 3. Aside from the ridiculously long name, they are probably the best all around street tires I have ever run. Good stick - wet or dry, decent tread life, reasonable prices.

On the other hand, Bridgestone RE-92, and I know there are a couple different versions, but whatever I purchased from Costco...a little on the steep side for price, mediocre dry performance, fill out your will - death trap performance in the slightest wet conditions. Which was a huge disappointment because I was coming in off the now out of production RE-71 that I had really enjoyed.

Car & Driver has an excellent budget performance tire test in thier current August issue. It doesn't cover them all, but alot of the popular ones are in there.

I just replaced the tires on my 2006 3S Touring with the Sumitomo HTR ZIII from tire rack, 205/50-17. They were the best "price/performance" balance I could find without stepping up to true high performance tire like the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec's.
So far they have been super smooth and quiet, with much better handling than the stock RS-A's.

205/55R16 Bridgestone Turanza w/ Serenity

I have experienced the same problem on my '08 3s with the factory toyos. I just bought some 205/55R16 Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's and will be having them installed on Friday. I will keep everyone posted on the new tires.

I finished those tires off in 12k miles, but while I had them, yes, they were definitely loud. I have the Potenza RE-960s and I'm fairly happy with them, although it is a Mazda and no matter what tire we really put on, we'll still have road noise.

The 205/40 17 Toyo Proxes R28s that came with the MSMiata Racing Harts I bought for my Protege were extremely good in terms of grip and handling ability in wet and dry weather, and the low road noise was icing on the cake. Unfortunately, Toyo has decided to discontinue this model, so I guess the T1Rs are their direct replacement. The T1Rs are a bit pricey, so I've actually been toying with the idea of switching to Nitto Neo Gens over the usual choices from Kumho and Falken for when I need a new set.

Got my Bridgestone Turanza's on yesterday and I am very happy so far.... very quiet and good traction.
