msp
well guys i have the option of getting a used Evolution VIII or i can use my what would be my down payment money to upgrade the engine. the only reason i want the evo is because it is a quicker car. i dont know if the msp will ever be able to do numbers like the evo with out puting a substanial amount of money and time into the car. Any advice or ideas would be great.

BTW the msp is stock except CAI and arw mount. i have ghl turbo back sitting to be installed after the winter season.
advice?
thanks

how about both? I would go with the EVO if I had to make a decision but I love my MSP!

Evo for the acceleration. I'm beginning to gain an interest in the new Mustag GT, however. Lots of aftermarket already.

Ive driven the EVO. Day to day handling is a wash. Both cars have handling limits which far exceed anything conceivable in normal driving. You know what, Id actually say the MSP is more "chuckable', tossable, than the EVO b/c of its lighter weight and smaller turning radius. The interior is about the same, but Mazda uses better quality than infamous Mitsubishi crap interior. The MSP has a better radio, the EVO has better seats.
The MSP is fast, enough to get into trouble with for an inexperienced driver. The EVO is faster and is more easily modded. Im getting a EVO myself, although on a day to day basis I honestly feel the MSP is close the EVO in fun.

But if you can get an EVO. :)

Why not try to pay off the MSP ahead of time and buy the EVO IX when it comes out or buy the VIII then because they will be a whole lot cheaper?

BINGO!

Though i have spent over 28k on my car and it doesnt even run right now. In hindsight I would've gotten an EVO, but i didnt plan on spending this much money right now. In fact it was going to stay relativly stock until the warrenty was up. I bought the MSP for reliable daily transportation. Boy, was I wrong.

Honestly, I would get the EVO. The aftermarket on the car is amazing, the potential of the car in stock form is outstanding, and it just provides a better platform to build off of. After all, the MSP is "wrong wheel drive".

Good luck on your decision.

I say keep the speed for now, don't do too much work to it, install the exhaust, and nothing that would make it a not so reliable car. Save the money you have now, maybe invest it for a year or so, till you have the MSP paid off..then go for the used evo III or even a new one as you'll have a bigger downpayment and monthlies will be cheaper, and then you can prolly afford to mod it a bit. Those cars are built for more speed, so modding them a bit doesn't make it as un-reliable as the MSP, and it's already fast as hell
Now, if the speed is already paid off, use the downpayment and get the EVO:D, hell maybe just get the evo, I really want an EVO myself, but maybe it's cause I cannot get one cause of the whole no evo in Canada thing. I dunno, I'd save the money for a bit to get, and not have times so tight, it'd be cool if you could have both though, which is why I said pay it off, and get the evo later or something.

Seriously, the EVO is a much better car in almost every area, but in your situation, I would wait, pay off the MSP and have some fun with it. The MSP is such a fun car that you won't regret keeping it, then when you are completly sure, step up to the big dog.

I would keep the speed but still get the Evo at some point....I want an Evo bad, and almost bought 1 twice... but I like the tranny better on the MSP, the shifter just seems better. I also think 19.5psi for a daily driver is a hell of a lot. I say MSP for Daily Driver and Evo for Weekends:)

Unless you have deep pockets, keep your MSP. An EVO is a great car and its ready to go right out of the box. But its anything but cheap to maintain, as it has some of the best parts available on it. I read that the brake pads alone cost $250 and the dealer must service them, so it turns about to be a $450 work order.

I have a friend that has one. Its one sweet ride for sure. Leather Recaro's, 19.5 psi of boost, and AWD. It drinks the gas as well.

Evo. Sure, the MSP handles great, but the Evo handles better, and the extra power/potential/resale/durability should seal the deal. Radios can be changed a lot easier than drivetrains.

As far as day-to-day driving, I had no problem with the Evo. I had both a standard Evo and an Evo RS for test cars last summer. I can honestly say that I would never get tired of driving that car. Of course, the RS kind of sucked on the really hot days and long trips (no A/C or radio).

I know I'll get yelled at for this, but the only 3 things that I can say the MSP is better at are noise (the Evo tranny whines a lot, but I like it, personally), the stereo, and styling. Evo takes the cake with durability, power, handling, winter driving, and resale value.

oh yeah, that's in the same ballpark

. I would get a Pagani Zonda

With the money you save, by the time dealers are accepting down payments, you could get it.

u think at 30Gs the Evo is the best bang for your buck? any other opitions you would consider? i like the 350 but no AWD. whatcha think?
