Total Loss

Speed6
Hi guys,

I have a white pearl Speed 6 which (as my insurance claims it) is a total loss. Appraiser estimated that total cost of repairs is $11,000. It looks like I will need another set of doors (driver side), hood, bumper, and head lights. I think engine-wise, the car is OK. I only need to replace main wire harness that goes from fuse box to ABS, fan, etc. as some wires got cut.

1. Do you have any tips on how to better dispute it with my insurance
company? It looks like it makes sense to invite an independent appraiser who can estimate ACV (actual cash value) and higher it is, more I get.
2. Do you think it makes sense to repair this car on my own? Where can I get the parts? I already submitted a couple of online requests to the junk yards. I really like it and if possible want to keep it.
3. I was not there when the car was towed, how can I check if the drive train was damaged?

Thank you!

im not sure if you can do that, everytime i had to get a car appraised by insurance, they did not car what anyone else said. what they did was give a quote for repair and by law, the shop has to do the repair at the price provided.
so im assuming in the case of a total loss they will just give you a check for the value of the car.

and i say you shold buy the car back as well, and remove the motor and sell it. (if the numbers make it profitable of course)

I think it depends on the condition of the drivetrain / engine. How many miles?

Mazdaspeed 6's have some pretty terrible resale. I would get rid of it.

don't bother. if it was appraised & considered totalled, you will be paying quite a lot to fight the filing, getting parts, repairs, and ultimately the car will never be the same after so much dmg.

If your insurance is giving you a fair amount, then move on. If you are very much in love with the MS6, then just save for a bit, research until you find the right one and start over.

GL!
