Toronto Sun ... "Most Bang For Your Buck"

For those of you beyond our borders (beyond Toronto for that matter) the Sun is our biggest daily local paper. Every Sunday it has a supplement called DriverSource with articles, ads and reviews about cars.

The year end issue today had various awards from their reviewer Glen Woodcock (do you think he got teased in school with that name(lol) ).

Guess which won "Most Bang For The Buck"? ..... Here are some quotes ....

- "Last year's winner in this category was the Mazda Protege5, which I called 'a great blend of style, utility and performance' "

- "This year the award goes to the MazdaSpeed Protege - a wicked, street-tuned version of the popular econo sedan."

- "It's lightning quick, handles beautifully and costs just over $27,000 - no options"

BTW ..... "Biggest Disappointment" ...... The new Mini.

in the us there are alot of mixed reviews, the sport sompact/import tuner crowd all think it is great while the motor trend/car and driver report that it is ok(and are still pissing and moaning about the bottons on the radio like they did with the mp3)

Yeah thats because Car and Driver and Motor Trend are a bunch of old farts

Give them back their old AM radio and they would be happy, these high tech stereos are to complicated for them.. lol

Actually I was looking at the deck at bestbuy the other day, this maybe one of those instances where a man has to break down and read the manual I had no idea how to use the damn thing either

Either way I am glad to see more good reviews, now I have to hunt down a copy of yesterdays Sun.

I've been shopping for a new car for over a year now, and no doubt about it, the MSP is definately the best bang for your buck, especially your Canadian buck. It blows everything out of the water that it is priced on-par with: no options Golf GTi, no options RSX Premium (that is a Type-S without the hot motor, 6-speed box and Bose sound system for our friends in the US), $4000 less than a Celica GTS, etc. And the best part is it has a decent back seat and 4-doors for a insurance break.
The Sentra SE-R Spec V, for $2100 less (with the sport package), is also a good value. But I think the extra money to go with a more exclusive car, with a better shifter and better "snubed down" suspension.

ok, im not sure about the 27K price tag that was posted for the MSP, but if that is true, why in the WORLD not get something like the new 350Z. im not downin the protege at all, i love my car, but if that is the price tag i would NEVER think about it, even tho it will be a very RARE car and it looks VERY nice, i would not spend 27k for it when i could spend 2K more and get a 350, i just dont understand, but hey, im a poor college boy, so i can't have either. oh well, ill just save some money and get me the MP3 front end and maybe later a turbo
