Top Speed...

welp, im telling you are cars are governed...

mp3 and mp5 its around 120, unless someone has gotten rid of it through the ecu....

stock msp is govered i believe 134 or so.. closer to 130. Ive it hit in the early 30's range everytime and it was not, due to the boost fuel cut, it was a totally different thing.

yeah when i was going (140 if possible) the cut felt like an ecu cut...i'm intested if my speedo is messed up that kinda pisses me off another thing wrong w/my car....here i'm gloating i was going 140 and probably wasnt close to it. but still love the car. I'd like to know if there is a cut and if so where so i can eliminate it

its built into the ecu man, all speedo's at higher speeds get inaccurate... its not just our cars... its in the ecu u'd have to find a way to eliminate it, but from what i understand nothign yet.

P5 aren't goverened!!! They are drag limited and 120 is not their top speed. I'm calling :bs: on you

okay hrm.. why dont you ask the few that have blown up there turbo p5 what speed they were at? hrm.. 120 ask them the scenario... oh fuel cut on a p5? nope... hrm.. they hit 120 and the fuel is cut but its not the turbo fuel cut, cuz the turbo keeps going and BANG they have rods and pistons hanging out the block.. go on tell me im dreaming.. hrm..

We are talking about regular P5. Not turboed once. IF they were govered, the engines wouldn't blow up. They would just shut off.

well, exactly the point, they shut down turbo keeps going, thats not a good combonation and boom.. thats exactly what im talking about..

and it takes u how long to get up and past it? maybe its the rate at which u reach the speed when its kicks in hrm...

Actually it's not that bad. After 80 the car pickes up speed pretty fast. P5 with a light weight flywheel was gaining speed faster than a regular one.

nice, but i mean maybe if ya strapped a turbo on it u'd reach it to fast car cant handle it and pow.

The fastest I've ever gone is 125mph and only because there was a group of like 20 rice rockets takeing up three lanes of highway and not letting anyone by. Suffice to say I made my own room pretty quickly.

i was told by my local import shop Mazda put a fuel cut of in the ecu and it governs the speed and the boost our cars can reach. I am currently looking for an upgraded ecu without all the crap in it. And by the way i burried my speedo agaiun tonight as i blew away some idiot in a civic on my way home. If the speedo is incorrect at that speed it sure aint my fault dawg

yeah, its true mazda put a fuel cut on the boost and also a fuel cut on the speedo, and its around 130. i hit it usually 132 or so.. the fuel cut for boost is taken car of with joe p's defenser, the speedo cut i haven't seen anyone release any info on.... now i may be way wrong, but isn't the s-afc what does that? gets rid of governers and speed and fuel boost cuts on cars, i know the the s-afc wont work on our cars due to voltage but isn't that what a s-afc does?

The fastest I've gone im my MSP was 134. It was on a Sunday morning right after my girlfriend broke up with me about 4 months ago. The windows were down.

I've run the car up to the rev limiter in 5th gear about 4 or 5 times since I got it in January. Every time, the fun stopped at exactly a speedo indicated 136. GUess it could be a little faster or slower if a radar gun was used due to speedo inaccuracies but let's just hope that I never have that "radar test."

As for the non-believers in my photo, I think it would be crazier to do that on jackstands or something in the driveway then on the highway. I guess I'll have to set the camera to "movie mode" next time. BTW.. If you look just under the top of the steering wheel, that IS the blurr of the white dotted lines between the slow lane and the passing lane. I did crop the landscape out of the picture but believe me, it is authentic. Same nice stretch of road everyday on the way to work. About once a week, I'm all by myself on the road so top speed tests usually happen then.
