Took it to the track today :(

if its any track ive been to, its either a .4 or a .5 unless for some weird ass reason, it starts off when the light goes green.

They changed the way the reaction times are recorded/printed out. I remember reading about it. The best reaction time a human can get is a .500 seconds after the green light. Most of us leave on the last amber to compensate for poor reflexes and the way the car launches.

Anyway, it's all about how the track records it. Might be a .279 red light, might be a .729. I guess only the track officials know.

hmm why are my 60' times bad...

i think its cuz of the track. our track is the worst ever.

dial in 16.60

reaction .7989

60ft 2.5267

330ft 6.9477

1/8ET 10.6425

1/8MPH 66.90

1/4ET 16.4741

1/4MPH 83.81

off dial -0.1259 :(

BREAKOUT

one round away from the semifinals...and i was running 16.6xxx all night...

yeh yeh.....it was the track. hehe....
like I said...I've never raced b4. My first run was 18.08, then 17.9, then 17.8. I was the very first one down the track to start the season. Plus I drove right through the stuff they put down for traction, but the guy said that I was gonna spin too much....

I'll get down into the 16's next time. My wife and daughter were there and we had to leave to an appointment, so I only took three runs at it.

I know that our car isn't a race car. But neither are civics or MP3s. It's just about having fun. I would rather do it at the track then get busted on the street.

What kind of rpms were you guys running? I didn't want to redline it too much because this is my to work and home car.

After spinning the tires they started to bounce. I guess its my springs causing that. All I have are Progress springs.

I'll work on it and let you guys know. I'll be back there in two weeks.

i try to gauge when i feel loss of power in the rpm range so if thats redline then thats where i shift. as for wheel hop i dont think its your springs you might want to try better motor mounts or inserts. yeah dont drive throught the burn out box unless you plan to burn out first.

i never formally ran my car at the trck but a buddy of my has a 91 civic hatch with a D16 sohc and he runs 16.0 all day long and me and him lined up and went a marked 1/4mile and he beat me by no more than 1/4 of the car and we ran several times. all i have for nods is a custom 2.5in header back system

I went to Firebird here in Phoenix at the end of December here are my two times.

#1 - 17.336@80.56mph (.530 rt)
#2 - 17.328@80.29mph (.619 rt)

What can I say, this is exactly the reason I am getting a turbo.

CAN I SAY bulls***?

come one guy, not way on earth that a good running conditon si(any generation) runs 17, please give me more info on this on.

ep3? em2?
it would even happen even with the parking brake on.

and PLEASE dont call a drag stripe a track

there's corner 1,2,3 on track

Obviously you've never gone to a drag race. I've seen Lingenfelter 427 C5's run 15's. I've seen LS1 Camaro SS's run 16's. There are all kinds of bad drivers.

What's a drag stripe? Some kind of street race jargon?

not to start a flame war, but just pointing out that a normal healthy running SI doesnt do that kinda number.
okay, let's assume that poor honda got a F-up engine, but i just want to point out he didn't beat a healthy running Si.

the comment " I beat an si" bother me alot since i know from experience how they run. NOT to say honda are this and that.

Sorry i dont street race, i know better than that. and that's a typo if you still haven't notice.

there is a yellow Z06 vette runnin on methenal(or however you spell it) its absolutely insane his liscense plate is even "WHY TRY" its nuts it should pull under 9seconds but his best is only a 12 and one run he had it in the 15s its all bout the driver, driver is what win races

it is very possible for any stock civic si to do those times. the new si does a 16.1 stock the old one does a 15.8 stock and the single cam hatch from long ago does a 16.5 stock so even if your an ok 17's arent that far off. and remember those times are also hit by pro drivers in perfect weather conditions.

Um, no doubt you meant strip .

Anyway, I would have to agree that the 2003 SI should be running low 16s (if you believe the morons at clubsi they should be running low 15s) stock.

But don't forget, most of the people who race SIs are highschool kids and are learning how to drive.

The new SI is the most FUGLY car (besides the Assteck) out there.

I read our cars run 16.4 stock with precision shifting... (dunno)

The stock (manual) Protege5 should run high 16s in the quarter. Low 16s I would raise the flag or say the person had a VERY lucky run or is modded.

I read it in one of the car reviews... can't remember which one off handed but read it somewhere else online as well... And it was fresh off the lot.

With a magnaflow exhaust , AEM sri, kartboy shifter and nice tires what should I aim for? I'm guessing 16.8 maybe?

Dude, did you read what I posted? Stock the car should run high 16s.

With those mods (depending on atmospheric conditions) you could possibly run low 16s.

I would have to be a hell of a driver to get low 16's. I prolly have about (being generous) 140 hp with the mods. Has anyone run low 16's with basic mods like exhaust and intake?
