i was driving the other day...my boost gauge was reading..5psi..later that night i was drivin it a little bit harder...now it was saying 15-20psi. i felt bigg pops from my exhaust and i was like WTF.... what would this be due to??

a broken wastegate, and if you havent done much work to the car, please dont keep stomping on it. yeah its fun now but it wont be when you throw a rod through your block.

ive never had to do it, but i know checking involves taking the vacuum line off the actuator and blowing into it. if you can blow through it, its shot, replace it. if not, keep looking, but this is a good starting point.

well..i was thinkng that too..i have some autometer gauges..but it was saying..5 now its like wayyy to high..reading 15-20.. when i stomp on it..i get this rowdy fuel cut and the car wants to shut off...ill look into the wastegate..

i had a mbc..i had it at 8 psi....but i took it off...idk if it screwed with my readings idk...

Hey man, PLEASE DO NOT BOOST THAT MUCH, stay outa boost until you get it fixed. I had the same problem 2 nights ago, i got on it and heard a wierd back fire so i did it again and looked at my boost guage and saw fu**ing 20 psi on the gauge, it was too late for me tho. The car now sits in my driveway with a hole in the block and part of a connecting rod on my kitchen table. Be very careful.

no such thing as too much boost!!

but yea the stock turbo runs out at 14psi i thought, so maybe a bad boost gauge

When people say it can only get 14 psi, they mean efficiently. You can boost around 20 or so as stated above, but you will be blowing hot air.

oh ok...well not that i ever want to go that high anyways, id rather just upgrade to a bigger turbo lol

Agreed. From what I've read, the 28rs is an all around better choice for our car than the stocker. Doesn't really matter how much boost you are running.
