You need to put it back on if you have taken it off.
Look under the hood, the air ducting seals against the plastic cover when the hood is down forcing the air through the tmic.
That is why the aftermarket tmic has the big flange around it.
it wont "hurt" anything but it is NOT just cosmetic. the rubber weather stripping on the bottom of the hood seals itself against the plastic IC cover.
if it is not there, a lot of the air that enters the IC cooling ducts wont actually flow over the IC, it will just blow in the engine bay.
I dont even own a speed3 yet and i will make all of you speed3ers very very happy!

You know what's funny? It never dawned on me that it actually seals to the hood. I never really see pictures of the stock intercooler. Just the aftermarket ones. I'm tupid. (smash)
