I saw a post a little while back saying that you Americanadians wanted Titanium as a standard colour, so here's a little thrill for you. This is my Australian SP20 in Titanium. More pics to come, next time in full sun so you can get the full effect.

hey, great. Got any more pics?

Is this paint metallic as well like the speeds? or just a flat paint without the metallic flecks

sweeet, i love darker gray colors.

if i were to ever get my car painted, that / audi dark gray totally.

i also see you dont need bumper reflectors on the front.

cool car :)

more pics, interior too

Sorry for the no response - work has been a b****.

Its been raining too so pics are destined to be shoddy for a couple of days. Stay tuned.

Newf, yes the paint is Metallic. You can't really tell in this photo, I'll post a detail pic when the sun comes out.

G'day
Finally got to wash the car and take some pics (Yes - it stopped raining too). I've cut them back to 800x600 to save everyone's bandwidth, but there's still over 1Mb of photos here so you've been warned. Hope you like.

Wow, you can see the metallic in that last picture quite nice.

Thanks for the pics. Looks great. It defintely is a unique color. Why is it you guys get all the nice toys down there? I noticed you even got the 323 brush plates inside the doors as well. Purdy. Even got the Nardi symbol on the wheel still, heck, the msp's don't have that no more.

It's amazing, since I decided to go with Grey, I've seen a good few pics on it now, most of which are Miata's. It's amazing that each picture almost makes the color look different. In one picture it looks like a dark grey like the aston's, another it appears like a dark silver ( Digi's autoshow pics ), and in TO and these above it seems to have a completely different hue to it, I can't explain it in words.

Regardless, thanks dude. Looks great.

You are absolutely right Newf, it looks heaps different depending on light, time of day etc. When we took the photos, it was just after midday, so the sun was pretty much right on top of it. You can see in the close front ons that it comes up a brilliant shiny grey/silver. But in others, like under the bridge, its almost purple. Other times, it looks solid, not anything like metallic. My important half and I made the same comments when taking the pictures.

Its also surprising for me too, Its parked undercover at home and work, and whenever I can when we're out and about. Its rare that I get to see it in all its glory in full sun, since I drive it all the time. Still, it makes it even more special when I do see it.

It seems to catch eyes everywhere, and if you keep it nice and clean, it reflects light like nothing else I've seen, even at night. (well, you get the idea). Its the best colour for 'look backs', hands down. Finally, rice-boys are the most jealous. Seems my 'stock' is just too hot for them.

On the interior, that was one of the most important things for me (aside from the 'phwoar, that looks alright' colour reaction) when I bought it. I was looking at the equivalent toyotas, nissans, even the pug 206 GTI, which was just too small (and Ford - the SR2 which is the identical car, minus the sway bar and the sweet leathery and chrome bits ), but none of them made me like the interior. Since I was driving it all the time, I wanted the interior to look, and be, good. The six stacker in-dash is great as well. All the down-under reviews of the car remarked on the 'wheel, with one calling the driving experience a 'gropefest'. Couldn't agree more.

Its heading into Autumn here, so I'm keen to take some preetty snaps in the brown leaves, and maybe even some in the snow later on. But by then, you'll probably have yours so we'll be vying for best the best Titanium coloured *protege* photo ;)

One of my dreams is to get down to Australia for a few weeks. It looks like a truly beautiful place to be, and I hear you guys are just as friendly as us Newfoundlanders ! :)

Thanks again for the pics. nice to hear from someone that actually owns one. having never seen the paint in person, I am kinda buying the car blind as I have a small dealer here in town, and I actually need to know for sure that I want it before ordering it. I'm going back and forth between getting the blue, and grey. I love the blue, but my mp3 is blue, so buying it again would feel like buying the same car. Now, if they release the speeds with the blue paint with those metallic flakes in it, no question, I think I'd go for that. But it seems the blue is going to be the same as what I already got. Assuming that's the case, Titanium it is for me.

The titanium looks really sharp. I've seen a lot of pictures of miata's. Some times it does look like a solid grey, and others a really bright sliver. Hopefully it doesn't look purple very often. I found that the picures from the Toronto Autoshow made the color lok too dark, almost purple, which I'm not sure I liked as much as blue. I'm blaiming that on poor lighting though. Same thing happened when pics of the orange came out. This metallic paint seems to be very difficult to take pics of.

So, to end my story, one more question. The thing that really pushed me over to getting Titanium was people saying it's very close to the Aston martin colors ( James Bond's last movie had one in it ) Is it?

Some pics of it in different shades: Seen you car like this?

scroll down....wayyyy.down in this link. Aston pics

The photo of the Protege is certainly the one I recognise most as the colour of my car. As I mentioned previously, I mostly see mine under artificial light (there's fluoro's in my garage and in the carpark at work), or in shade, so that is an accurate photo of what I see the colour to be.

The colour is similar to the Vanquish in terms of how the colour is affected by dfferent sunlight. It does look different depending on where the sun is and how balanced the light is. The panelwork on the car also reflects light differently too, so the wasteline where the door kind of bulges generaly looks darker than the vertical panels, which give a mirrored effect.

In short, yes, the colour is similar to the vanquish, but there's a hint more blue rather than grey in it when its not sunny. How's that sound for convoluted?

yeah I noticed your avatar....got that picture in a larger size? I'm picture crazy!

Thanks for the insight!
