I need some suggestions on tires that fit the stock p5 rims. Just looking for some all-season tires that fit our stock rims. On a budget so lemme know friends thanks.

I'm installing Kumho Ecsta ASX tires on my car today. They are rated very good on the
Tire Rack web site. There aren't may all season tires availabe in the 195/50/16 size.

If you want to go wide (215/40/16) on stockers you have two choices: Sumitomo HTR+ and Hankook Ventus HRII. I've run them both, and both are a good choice, although I think the Sumitomos are going to last longer.

I just need new tires that fit the stock 03 p5 rims that fit my budget. Goin wide sounds nice though. Does it affect my mpg? Good or bad? And these can be found on tire rack or other sources?

Tirerack and discounttiredirect both have them (or each have one). I don't really know about MPG (maybe a small decrease)...the sidewalls are a little short, so the ride is a little rougher, but I saw a major increase in traction when I upsized from 205 to 215.

yeah probably more rolling resistance so worst gas mileage. i suggest 215/45 if you want to go wider. bigger sidewall and if your car is not lowered it will look better.

205/45/16
falken 912

cheap and good, looks a little better than stock but is basically the same size.
They do hang over the rim a tiny bit more than stock so you get a tiny bit more rim rash protection

i'm getting a set of yokohama parada spec-2's this weekend in 205/40 17s, which are made from a silica compound (giving you more grip), and also come with a rim protection bar for added protection from wheel curbage. with the promotional $40 america's tire company rebate (which runs until may 1st), they come out to be cheaper than a set of falken 512 or 912 or kumhos asx or ast, and they also have higher rated treadware (UTQG) than either the sumitomos or hankooks.

Tough to find all-seasons in that size...I looked. 215/40s are about all that's out there and cheap (less than $80 a tire).

I got the kumho Ecsta ASX 195/50/R16 from america's tire for $70 buck a tire. Had them on for 6 months and so far good things, even wear, better then what was on there. I really like them and would recommend them, I got them razor sipped (very popular out here in Oregon) and don't think I would do that again, I just don't think it's worth it.

If you haven't searched already be sure to check out both 205/45/16 and 205/50/16 sizes. They will fit the stock wheels just fine and match very close to the speedo. The bonus is you get a much bigger selection of tires to choose from.

Kumho's are cheap but you get what you pay for. Threadware is mediocre at best, looking at 15K miles on my set. Handling and noise was good, but with wear it does drop. Braking, Wet Traction, are very good, even with wear. Not sure if these affect MPG, since it had Kumho's when I bought the car. Snow/slush driving is not recommended at all, get a set of snow tyres.
Don't go by what Tirerack or discout tire has, stop at a local tire shop, they do have more choices and cheaper with better treadware.
I got Cooper snows - can't remember the model. They actually felt better then Kumho's.

Avoid Toyo Proxes 4... more expensive than the Falken Ziez ZE-912, very noisy, greasy in the wet, and poor tread wear (maybe 15k until worn on mine). At the price, the Proxes are a garbage tire with no redeeming qualities.

too bad toyo discontinued the proxes r28. relatively quiet and average tread wear, but boy those tires gripped the road like velcro!

I went to 205/50's. , Like the man said a lot more choices. I bought 4 Goodrich G-force super sports at 95$ a pop. Never heard a noise out of them and I flog that car in the twisties.

They're wearing pretty good...not like the falken's it came with. These are much better in the rain and okay in a little snow. Not noisy. I'd buy them again, especially at that price from T-rack.

I got the stock size Potenzas, and they have been great. My dad went through two sets of some Korean off brand before switching to Falken. I wore through those in maybe a year, then bought the Potenzas after haggling to get a tire free... I also think its cool to have the same name on my tires as the F1 cars do, but that's just me.
