Tire width

Hey can somebody shed some light on this subject for me? First of all, how wide do you think we can go with tires on our MP3? Has anybody tried anything larger? I read somewhere that somebody did 225s without any rubbing but I find that hard to believe. I like the look of a wider tire, and come replacement time I'd like to examine my options.

Also, since I don't know much about this subject, how wide can we go on our stock rims? Thanks!

to put a 225 onto an mp3 there will need to be fender rolling in the rear only as long as you use the stock wheels or a new rim with the same offset.

the tire you will need is a 225/40/17 to keep the height correct. I have never seen one of those so the next closest is the 225/35/17 which is 23.2" tall compared to your 205/45/17 which is 24.25" tall that is a lot of variance in height so you will need to lower the vehicle to make it look correct. not to mention your speedo will read fast! hope this helped!

Hmm, what about 215 then? I guess what I'm confused about is how you can mount different width tires (205, 215, 225) on the same width rim (7"). How does that work without problems?

After i put on my winter set of 16" rims with 205 55 16 tires i noticed that the gap btw the rear wheel and fender has grown to be very close to each other.... im afraid of some rubbing during hard driving or ppl in the backseat...... how come when i have 16" its like that in opposed to when i had the bigger 17" on?

i would also like to know what the biggest tire we could put on our 7" x 17" racinghart wheels before rubbing would occur. Also What are the advantages and dissadvantages of a wider tire.

Dude, I know I've asked this before, but I keep forgeting. What offset and bolt pattern can be put on our MP3's? Thank in advance to anyone that can answer. ;)

I bought new rims for my mp3, 18", prob ging with a 215/40/18

And to answer your question the bead on the tire seals to the rim. Whether or not it hs to stretch to do it. Hence the wheels you see with rims stickin out futher than the tire
