My Goodyear Eagle GTs are cooked after 20K miles and I was considering replacing them with Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires (Great reviews on Tirerack) I was considering moving up to a 225/45-18 from the stock 215/45-18 since the 225/45-18 have an extra 1/16" of depth (11/16 vs 10/16) and are slightly less expensive. Does anyone have an experience with this tire or running a 225/45-18 tire on the stock rim? Any issues with rubbing? Are there any advantages moving to the 225 or should I just stick with the stock 215? Any help is much appreciated!

Tire rack has them on backorder in that size though. We have those tires on the ms6 but in 225-40-18 and they are great! Also the 225/45/18 that they sell is not a XL load rating.

But the tire themselves are awesome. We have had 3 sets of tires on this car (Stock, Bridgestone potenza s03s, and now the continentals) These are not as good as the others for grip (summer vs all season) but they are a hellovalot better in comfort. it was like night and day. Very quite too!

Thanks for the info and good find about the the 225/45 not having the XL load rating. Does the MS6 require a tire with an XL load rating? If so, I will probably just go with the 215/45-18. With the crappy Michigan roads, I want a little extra height on the sidewall to avoid any rim damage.

if i get a 1.3/1.5 inch drop on my 08 Mazda6 , what size tires/wheels would i need to get that way i dont have to roll my fenders or do any extra work?
