Tire Pressure on New Mazda 5 (from the dealership)

So I looked at the side panel and it says that factory tires should be set at 34 psi (spare is more of course).

For some strange reason after I ask the dealer 2x to ensure that they set it correctly when I bought it from the shop, it was set to over 41 psi when I checked for 3 of the tires.

When I bought a Mazda 3 years ago it was the same exact thing. Set over 40 when the settings should've been at 32psi when I took it home from the dealer.

Did anyone else experience this from a new car? Or should I not follow the 34psi recommendation?

are you checking the tires cold, hot tires will read higher pressures. what was the other tire set at? i know guys at my dealer dont always set pressures on the sticker but anywhere between 31 and 35 is acceptable for passenger cars. did you happen to have the car loaded when you took it in? tech may have just tried compensating for extra weight and theres always discrepancies between the techs tire pressure gauge and a customers gauge

interesting, i checked the tires after i shut off my engine today. will check again tomorrow. the three of the tires were set at 41 psi and the front right tire was at 33.5 when I looked today. The car has felt uneven recently so it's worth checking more often i guess esp with the colder weather

had the same problem when i purchased a 2009 mazda5 touring. I checked the tire pressure a month later and it was at 40-42 lbs. and i brought it down to 34. Never figured out why it was so high. On a sidenote, the stock Toyos are now at 26,000 miles and my service manager told me they will need replacement around 30,000. Although a great handling tire, i look forward to putting on a set of michelins, yoko, etc. which i am hoping will be quieter without sacrificing the handling.....

When I took delivery of mine, all 4 of my tires were sitting right around 23 psi. And my TPMS light was on. I wasn't too happy about that.

I really don't think tire techs EVER put a gauge on when they fill tires. I also don't think they use a torque wrench when they mount the wheels.
always good to check both of them yourself.
btw, last week my TPMS light comes on, which had me concerned because the tires are only about 2 months old I was scared I had a flat. nope, no flat, just low pressure all around, like 25psi! that REALLY pissed me off because the shop touts 'nitrogen filled' which is supposed to last longer; I think they never filled them to 34psi to begin with.

They are supposed to check the pressure as it's one of the boxes on the pre delivery checklist.

It's just shoddy prep work.
