Tire pressure for new rims??

let me see. if you put low air pressure in the tire. if u were to hit a bump. then u have a bigger chance of dentin the rims. if u run higher pressure then you will reduce alittle bit of getin a dent. thats how i do it on my rh rims. i have about 35-37 on mine. havnt dented one yet. but i do avoid all pot holes that i can. so just my thought. if you run lower pressure too. u can get crappier mpg.

just got them on for 3 days now. havent hit a pothole yet as i REALLY avoid them especially now on the new rims.

hmmm, just wondering if i should follow the car's tire pressure suggestion of 32 all around. but i guess youre right, it should be good for the rims for the higher pressure. thanks.
anymore inputs will be welcome.

You can run whatever pressure you want as long as it's within the specs of the tires, taking into consideration what AznXstazy (LOL now I get it!) said.

For me I run 36 Front and 34 rears on stock rims [aftermarket tires] on my current suspension setting b/c I like how it handles.

If you inflate too much you'll also crown the tires making the contact patch smaller and more concentrated on its center.

If you inflate too low, it will be the reverse.

Tire wear will be influenced by tire pressures too.

yea or u can go out and buy these things that people who do your alignment uses. they messure how much tire thread is left so you know if you need more air or less air. im not sure where you can get them.... but if i find out ill post. they come in pretty handy when you need to know if you need air or not.

i asked the guys at the tire shop when they put on my toyo 205/45/16 and the told me to run 36lbs because of the lower than stock profile it is becaause you have less tire wall between you and the road to prevent chip this is also why your ride is rougher.

Just a point. I run 38 Psi because of the tires that I drive on recomend that high of a pressure to maintain the shape. You should perhaps look into it before trying 38 PSI or read the sidewall..

Why the diference?

For me I run the rears less so that it has more grip. I find the rear likes to swing out with the pressures being the same.

I've done 180's on the track. And oversteer on a underpowered front driver isn't fun for me, not enough power at speed to correct the oversteer.

It's just for my preference to suit my driving style [lift throttle oversteer and trail braking] at my current suspension setup.

This Sounds Like a good reason

This does NOT... (cabpatch)

hehe...just to clarify when i said i used to run 30psi that was on the stock 16" rims and tires. now i was gonna do the same with my new 18" rims and 215-35-18 hankook's but when i checked it was 36 all around, so i asked here first if i should lower pressure to 32 as the mazda manual says...
