I hate to start another lsd thread but this one is a little different. I havent pulled a tranny apart in probly 6 or 7 years and for those of you who have done the lsd replacement in the msp just wondering if you have any advice or cautions to look out for. a lot of guys have said its pretty simple so im hoping it is but please if you have any tips let me know thanks

the only thing I would watch out for is the little tiny metallic balls that are used for keeping the gears in place. There will be two I believe each under a spring and the spring will be under a bolt. The bolts are on the case so they will look just like the bolts that keep the transmission together. The spring and ball are tiny but very important so don't lose them like I almost did. Oh and there's a plastic fluid guide that lets the fluid pour onto the fifth gear, you will see it when you take the black cap off the end of the transmission, be careful not to break it. It bolts to the inside of the mid section of the case. I broke mine and its a hard part to find. Last but not least you will need a way to keep the input shaft from turning when you go to unscrew the big lock nut on top. I just took my old pressure plate and bolted it down to a stand I made from wood. You will be able to put the transmission that to keep it steady and tight. The input shaft splines through the pressure plate will keep it from turning. Its really not a bad transmission to work on just knowing these things before hand would of helped me a a lot. Happy wrenching!
