Tinting...opinions needed

35% actually doesn't look that bad, i thought it would be too light but it looks pretty good...i believe that in ny we can have 35 on everything but the windshield is that correct? that would look pretty good i think...
now we just gotta find somewhere to do it...

(braindead) No excuse here...I just totally missed that! It looks great...exactly what I want. Ok, now I'm going to harass the distributor to get me the names of some installers in this area.

sweet. post some pics when you get it on! only thing i wish sometimes was to go 18%, cause sometimes, when it's 115 degrees out, it's pretty darn hot in the car. otherwise, i love it. never got hassled in california for having everything tinted, either. and we all know how anal those CHP guys are.

OK...I just called the only place here the does Llumar...70% is the legal limit in NY. Which the guy said is pretty much clear...that sucks! It's $119 to do a P5.

Yes 70% is the limit in NY and as for the windshield you can do anything to the top 6 inches but nothing below that. 70% is pointless so if you have it done go dark 35% max. You can see what I have in my sig for tint but if i ever have it redone I'll go with 15 or 20% all around. mcstark, I've had my windows done since the first week I got the car (june 2002) and have never been hasseled by the cops, also I have no front plate and no problems there yet either. The cops won't even take a second look at you for tint unless your doing something else illegal and sometimes not even then. I got a speeding ticket last month and nothing was said about the car. I paid $150 for the hole car w/ the windshield here in Rochester at the Tint Shop.

And yeah...I'm thinking of going with 35% like tonka's car. $119 sounds like a good deal then.

$119 aint bad...would the guy do 35%? i know someplaces will only do legal tints...which would suck...70% isn't at all worth it...but if the guy will do 35% then i am in...thats a pretty good deal...

Yeah, they'll do whatever level you want...and $119 was for everything but the windshield -- don't want them to do that. I have an appointment for Sat. AM, so I'll post some pics once it's done.

OK, found a place with a better reputation that will do it for $89 plus I have a 10% off coupon. They don't use Llumar, but have a lifetime guarantee for their work. A lot of the local dealers use them for their tint jobs.

I'm going to call some of the dealers tomorrow just to double check, but I can trust these guys. They mentioned they do the rear windows as one piece, which is something I've learned to look for (from you guys!). They use a metalicized medium gray film -- it's not Llumar or Scotchtint.
