I got pulled over by a cop... again. They keep complaining that my tint is to dark(20% front 10% back) that and Mirror Tint is illegal period in Virginia... *sigh* ( I want Florida plates). But yea so this is my 4th time getting pulled over and It's starting to be more trouble than it's worth plus my pockets are getting skimp from these tickets I keep getting fromt my Tint and Exhaust. So I need to remove it before my court date so the charges will be dropped but I wanted to know if anyone knew how. Am I going to be able to do it myself? Or will I have to pay to get it done professionally (or would it be best If I go this route)? And how much do you guys think this should run me $$$ ?

just get an edge and pull it off. use tweezers and start at the top corner of the window.
It helps to move the window arround a bit. Once you get it started just pull it off.

then use windex and a razor blade and scrape the glue off. make sure you use lots of windex and keep the razor at a good angle.

It will come right off. its easy, I did it last week.

Virginia sucks with their stupid laws! I got pulled over too for my tint (20% all the way around) and even though I had Florida plates, he said I was still subject to VA laws because I was "in" the state. What a douche! sucks that you gotta take it off though.

That's sucks!! I'm from Texas and I currently live in North Carolina and I have to have 2 license plates on my car because Texas law requires it. I was under the impression that for your car you only have to obey the laws in which it is registered. If that's not the case how could you make a road trip without having to change window tint in every state because they're laws for that are all different....I think they just need to have universal federal laws for window tint percentages.

Yea you make a good point with the whole road trip thing. Virginia definately sucks. And the ticket he gave me for my exhaust wasn't even for it being to loud. He gave to me just because it wasn't my stock one. Turns out in VA if you have anything else other than your stock exhaust its illegal. THAT IS SUCH BULL! Do you know how many people should be getting tickets right now b/c they dont have their stock exhaust on. I think the cop just wanted to be a dick.

Eh hemm.. so how long did the whole tint removal process take?

I did my front two windows from start to finish in like 30 minutes.

it is a snap, there is nothing to it. if you can get the tint to come off in one piece you are laughing.

mine was on for almost 2 years and it came off without a hitch.

just go for it.

Back to the original question, there is a spray-on product for this job. I think most autoparts stores carry it. I never used it myself, but it supposedly works well. Anyone know the name of it?

Not the product, but a DIY step by step... http://www.tintdude.com/remove.html

In the above link, I'm not really understanding what it is saying about spraying water. Are you spraying it on the outside? What is the point of it?

I think the product might be simple green that you are talking about. In some of the comments on this website, the people talk alot about simple green.

One more thing: is it any different if your tint is newer because on this website, they are mainly talking about old, bubbly tint.

I am going to remove my tint eventually and get really dark tint.
