Time for Tires!

2003 Black P5
Whats shakin'! I'm at the point were I need to get new tires on my P5 for the first time. I want a more aggressive tires than the stock dunlops but I'm unsure what type of tire I've seen talked about in the forum would be best. I'm been looking at some Kum Ho's and the azenis but I want to make sure these tires would work well on the stock wheels. what to do...

I'm just looking for a kick ass dry weather tire with just enough wet traction to stay alive. I've seen a lot about tires but not what works best with the stock wheel.

Azenis then. A few sizes fit, new ones coming out soon. Search around the rim/tire/suspension forum. Plenty of reviews and fitments. I think 205/50/16 and the new size is like 215/40/16 or something.

I've got Kumho ASX's, because I wanted an all season tire. For a summer tire I'd get Kumho MX or Azenis-there are two types. There is an all out race tire that is DOT legal, and there is another one that is more of a street tire, that when worn down it's the same compound as the "race" tire.

Old style Azenis 205/55/16. New style Azenis 205/40/16, and will not fit the stock rim. I've heard good things about the MX's. Tonight, I'm going to pick up my Azenis' which I had mounted and balanced yesterday(thumb).

Be prepared to spend about $100 apiece on the MX's, the Azenis' are only about $70 apiece.

I would search for tires on the forum, so many threads....

Oh, Yokohama AVS-ES 100's are awesome. I love the way they handle in dry, but also in the FL rain. Never lost traction yet.

I vote for the ES100's, too... They work wonderfully, and are quite agressive, comparitivly. 215 may be a bit wide for the stock 6" wide wheel, but 205 is reasonable... 205/45R16 if you want more performance-oriented profile, or 205/50 if you want a slightly softer riding option. Either are worlds better than the stock Dunlop SP Sport 5000M's.

i bought a set of bridgestone fuzion ZRi's. im waiting for the snow and salt to go away before i mount them and test them out.

Thanks for the info so far guys. I was doing some tire research last night and came across the Yokahama Prada Spec-2 tires which are super aggressive and got better feedback than the ES100's. Anybody have these or know somebody who has them? Supposedly they last longer than the ES100's too.

Yeah, a Golf-owning friend of mine has them. They aren't quite as grippy as the AVS ES100's, and they didn't seem to last any longer... He only got 30k out of his Parada's, and I've gotten well over 43k out of my ES100's. The 100's are a lot better in the rain, too. Hehee.

toyo makes the all conquering T1-S and proxes 4 all season in 195/50/16, thats what i'll be getting.

i ranthe es-100's on the miata, good tire, but i wanna stay w/ OE size

Alright, I need some input. I've narrowed it down to either the Prada Spec-2's or the ES100's (they cost the same). The closest sizes either of them come to OEM in are 205/45/16. Are they gonna work well on the stock 6 in. wide wheels?

what are they normally? or a good deal, i bet i could sell some cheap, and make some $

as a middle mad? ebay?

You should be ok with a 45. If it were 40, it'd be no go.
